Windows sucks as a desktop operating system, especially for home users
I don't think we have reached "the year of the Windows desktop" because quite honestly, outside of corporate use Windows absolutely sucks for desktop usage and has been inferior to the alternatives for 20+ years now. It's sad that almost every computer is preinstalled with it, because GNU/Linux and macOS are simply better in most ways and have been for a long time.

It's insecure, doesn't have a very good package management system, has high system requirements and poor support for older hardware, a poorly designed GUI, makes no attempt to be POSIX compliant, and even more issues I won't go into for brevity's sake. Now with Windows adding more and more anti-features to their operating system, we are seeing it go from bad (like in the days of Windows Vista and Windows 7) to worse (Windows 11 or the dreaded Windows 12).

Windows is only really better for corporate use and niche applications, as corporations like to stick to software for a very long time and professionals are often given no alternative because software isn't developed for another platform. while GNU/Linux and macOS tend to not be as stringent when it comes to supporting legacy software. For a while, Windows was also better for gaming but the gap has closed significantly between Windows and GNU/Linux to the point where the marginally more amount of games you can play on WIndows doesn't really make up for the rest of the operating system sucking so bad.

Windows users often have to spend more time for a less usable system than those who run an easy to use GNU/Linux distro or macOS does. I'm not saying that GNU/Linux, macOS, ect are without their flaws themselves but overall they are better desktop operating systems than Windows is.

As you said switching to Linux is often not really an option for a lot of users yes it's not good, but you have to live with it.
Windows is fine.

Project your own issues onto yourself.
Linux and Steam OS is the future of PC gaming.

Any sources other than your magic ball?
(had my steam deck since early 2023, crashed once or twice, Windows, crashes almost every session)

I have encountered a kernel panic 3 times over the past 14 years. I have seen more WIndows BugChecks (aka BSODs) in the span of 1 year and even when I did dualboot them, I spent less time in Windows overall than GNU/Linux.

Then if you want to keep using Windows, first learn how to use it and fix your own issues, otherwise keep using your Linux distros.

Never had windows 10 crash at all never seen its bsod and have been using it for years and never had to reinstall windows 10 except when I changed the motherboard and cpu and ram a few years ago.

There's not really much that can be done about it, the Windows NT kernel itself is less stable than the Linux kernel no matter what you do.

Gonna be honest here most linux users overestimate the avrage users abillity to use a computer at company i work for we tried linux and yeah my coworkers bricked the systems trying to fix something linux is great for ppl who have some experiance in coding and for servers but for avrage joe sadly no
