The point is that a influential person in US politics voice an opinion about a German election and that they think people should vote for a National Conservative party like their own supported American party (The Republicans)
It will be interesting to see what happens.
Nobody was talking about him.
Rather we were talking about how foreign powers try to influence an election in a certain direction.
The minor parties gain votes, because the people run out of ideas whom to trust. Like if You look at how the parties do the ads nowadays - it´s like the Green talk about hope and future, the SPD against the CDU, the CDU against extremists, the AfD against the established parties, same as the BSW, the FDP against the Greens, and the Left for more social equality. In times of social media, it works better to talk against each other - rather than with each other. But the latter is what democracy is about.
It´s easier to negotiate with some strong head of the state - than it is with a parliament. Also i think that Europeans don´t think that every US American is in favor of Trump politics, or with Musk´s points of view, who is obviously in it for his own benefit, and that of his investments. And the simplified "us" vs "them" are rather right wing talking points, because they´re better at being emotional to make up for the lack of rational arguments and objective analysis.
Also all what was said is that the AfD has Neo Nazis in their ranks - and that they are fine with it. But somehow this simple fact offends AfD people - while it wouldn´t even be an argument, if the AfD would at least verbally distance themselves from these people - but instead they either say nothing, or say that they also have good and valid points...
Money for nothing, chicks for free.
I mean your version of AfD already won in your own country, is that not enough?
You can follow it live here.

------------------------------------
It will be interesting to follow.
AfD looks like to gain less than first predicted. But almost 20% is still a large margin.
CDU: 211
SPD: 116
Die Grühne: 98
Afd: 142
Linke. 62
SSW: 1
as a german, do you believe cdu will be willing to cooperate with afd? if i am not being mistaken, cdu is centre-right, which is certainly not even close to afd on the spectrum, but still.
