The amount of money they're trying to squeeze out of us isn't equalled by a quality title that we feel justifies the money we're spending, they're just crap. CoD, BF, Assassin's Creed, etc are all just rehashes of crap.
Our only hope lies in enough Indie devs making quality titles that draws players away from AAA garbage to the point that the AAA companies change their practices and become more in touch with what players want.
Why? There's no shortage of good western games once you start looking beyond mainstream games.
I haven't noticed it, you're correct. I don't care about games like "Suicide Squad", "Concord", the annual sports games from EA... But I have a very full library and wishlist of games with none of those problems.

They don't matter to me. I'm a terrible coward when it comes to horror games, I'd be squealing like a frightened teenage lass if I had to play a RE game. Besides, isn't Resident Evil a CAPCOM game, you know, a JAPANESE company? Why are we discussing it?
And since when do journalists (or anybody else) get to tell game developers how to make their games? Neither journalists nor players should meddle into others' process of creation.
None of that matters anyway, because "DEI" isn't what's killing the gaming industry
