No good sci-fi series anymore
It's been a long time since the glory days of Star Trek and Stargate. I just bought the boxed set of star trek ENT to gift my dad because he doesn't subscribe to any of the services that show star trek. I think it's CBS now? And the new CBS star trek sucks.

Disney owns Star Wars, and the new Star Wars sucks. Stargate is just dead.

Is there even one good modern day sci fi series that has good plot and characters and isn't filled with sex scenes or politics?

Even mid-tier sci fi series like Andromeda and Farscape don't exist anymore. (I love both but the acting and plot just wasn't as high quality)

The last one I personally enjoyed was Dark Matter (2015 by Joseph Mallozzi) but my parents didn't really like it. It was admittedly a little too edgy compared to the more intellectual and family friendly sci-fi that old school Star Trek had.

Is the golden age of sci-fi TV series over? Is it all bad superhero movies from this point forward?

Also I know there is new Dune movies but I like the 1984 movie better. You can't beat the quality acting in that one. They had a smash-hit lineup of actors. I might see the new movies if I can get the DVD's in a discount bin.

I kind of want a new IP, with good writers and a good director that won't inject politics and unnecessary sex scenes into the series. (I can dream)

The Expanse is a good one...
The Expanse on Amazon prime is pretty good, it is a bit woke but not enough to ruin the story.

Great minds.
I'll take Star Trek Strange New Worlds. I guess you could try the Dune series.
Falling Skies is also pretty good, same as The Expanse in the woke department but not overwhelming.

or stick with warhammer40k
at least watch the original anime, the character designs are so ass in this one
I'll have to check out the expanse. haven't heard of it before.
hammer and bolter is good anthology scifi series if you like warhammer

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hammer_and_Bolter

the animation ranges from "fine" to "♥♥♥♥" though. however, the voice acting/writing is very good, so it is being pretty easy to ignore the animation quality

it is trapped on games workshops streaming service though (yes games workshop has their own ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ streaming service)

I have seen it! My parents aren't really into anime though.

I tried to show them Attack on Titan once and my mom walked out during the first episode when Eren's mom gets eaten.
Yes, there is none. Modern television, especially Science Fiction, has been abysmal for a long time now. I do not see it improving either.
another:

love, death & robots

animated anthology series, many episodes are being of the scifi genre, but also many are having elements of fantasy or horror.
