PS5 or Steam Deck?
I'm not big into playing video games but lately I have been playing war games like Arma Reforger and GTA 5. These are the 2 games that I played the most. I am currently playing these games on a laptop. I would like to transition away from using a laptop because sometimes it's not really convenience. I am interested in purchasing a steam deck but the price for a steam deck is just around the same price as a PS5. If I am looking to spend $400+, is it really worth it to pay $400+ for a hand held console as compared to a PS5? I understand that the final decision is up to myself, but I just wanted to get some opinions and see if you were in this situation, would you get a steam deck or PS5? Once again, I wanted to point out that I am not big into video games so is it even worth it to spend $400+ or just stick with the laptop? Reason why I want a hand held console is so that I can take it with me and play it anywhere as compared to a laptop.

Only you can decide whether you value portability over living room gaming. Personally, I'd go for the PS5, but I only bother playing games away from home when travelling long distance, and I could never play things like Elden Ring, GTA, etc., in that kind of environment with so many distractions around me. I'm more into things like roguelikes and arcade games when on the move, and a decent phone is fine for that.

I don't think ARMA is on PS5 as far as I know, as for GTA5, you could pick up an old PS4 cheaper and play it on there to save some money.
steam deck you can take it anywhere, you should check the list of games that can be played on the steam deck and see if that's what you want to play. And sd is also a pc, some people even use emulators to play other games
a ps5 is not portable but I guess you can play some games you wouldn't be able to play on the sd

Reason why I am hesitant in getting the steam deck is because if I ever decide to sell it, I think a PS5 would hold value over a steam deck? If i was to sell a used steam deck, I believe it will go lower than a used PS5?

I have a ps4 already and to be honest, it barely get any play time. This is why I am unsure if getting a PS5 would be the best choice because i barely even play my ps4. I don't like to sit in front of a tv and play games like this. But it's hard to spend $400+ on a hand held console.

You'll sell your PS5 for about 100 dollars - anybody can get one, steam deck you can sell for more, because you have to order it through steam and wait for it to arrive.

I guess if you're worried that much about that, then don't get the sd

It depends if you want to play newer games. Steam Deck can't run some of the newer games coming out. Steam Deck is good for emulation, older titles, and on-the-go gaming.

Arma Reforger is available on PS5. i own both a PS5 and a steam deck and use my PS5 only second to my desktop PC. My steam deck tends to be used only when I’m travelling.

The deck has pretty limited battery life, but if you have a large steam library, it makes sense to buy as you can have the library available on the go.

However, if you buy a PS5 and a PS plus subscription you can have a fairly decent library ready to go.

ps5
Get the PS5. You could always take it a step further and get their handheld Portal device if you want portability. However as a steam deck enthusiast, I think you should eventually get one just because it is a great handheld gaming device
