When did young Americans become so stupid?

I was watching a video where a dude was asking around mostly young Americans about basic geography and I was baffled by how dumb those people were, how can you not know what nationality someone from Amsterdam is? And Europeans not having computers? I'm not American so I don't know what causes this but I'm pretty sure that they teach geography in America, right? Please tell me they do.

How many were able to answer correctly but weren't added to the video? Common sense would say probably a lot.

Yeah sure, all of these videos are totally scripted into deceiving Americans and ruining their reputation....

I went to the US numerous times and in fact lived there for a while. I am an open guy, I talk with people about all kinds of stuff, they indeed are mostly terribly educated on such topics, some even seriously believed the German flag was still a Swastika.

And you hear stuff like this from people that you before thought, are actually intelligent and sophisticated, but when it comes to geopolitics, geography, history and cultures, they immediately turn out to be lacking massively.

Sure, there are always exceptions! But talking about the broad masses, especially the average joe, they know a hell a lot less on such topics than my fellow Europeans.

Yup, agreed. This is what happens when a country allows LGBT, DEI, and wokeness. It sets the country backwards. I am sure their intentions to promote fairness however that's not how you build a civilization.

The Internet has greatly contributed to lessening levels of education, that and the "woke" Department of Education who continually lowers learning standards as to not appear to be "racist".

Americans don't travel as much internationally as Europeans do. Because the country in itself is quite massive and there's a big market for domestic traveling. It's also a big reason why Americans hold passports at significantly lower amounts per capita than Europeans do. For these reasons, many Americans may not see knowledge about European continent as something that is essential to know.

Now admittedly, many Europeans don't necessarily know the states in the US, let alone being able to point them on the map. I'm not entirely sure if that is comparable that is but when you get to the territory of the so-called "non-essential" information, you can find ignorance from all the regions.

republicans have controlled the school industry for over 50 years now.....just look in to who publishes most of the books used in the US school system and who they are made by.......its simple really......

It's because of the Department of Education. Proof has shown that test scores have taken a dramatic nosedive ever since the invention of the DoE.

We must dismantle the entire government, start leaving decisions back up to the states. We don't need Daddy Government telling us everything.

The DoE might have had a purpose before, but anymore it's just there to implement government policies at the behest of teacher unions.

Maybe if the students were unionized instead of the teachers, it'd actually serve students and not teachers.
