Do you like to give hugs to furry pets?

rabbits, kitties, doggies, horsies, etc.

I always think its kinda odd that a lot of animals don't really like being petted, it can be stressful. Since in the wild nothing would have ever petted them. Or petting could be the start of an attack.

That animals are brought up young, learning to tolerate being petted.

People project onto animals that "I like being petted, so all animals must like it and understand its a good thing".

i hug my cats every single day. they usually do not mind a quick squeeze.

both of my cats are extremely gentle and do not mind. but no cat or dog (or animal) really enjoys being hugged very much. they often enjoy close contacts and physical touch, but hugs are restrictive and animals are not really into it. if my cats ever "protest" i immediately stop, their will matters to me.

That do happen sometimes. Ticks get too greedy and want more love they they can handle. As do mosquitos.

hugs? sometimes when my cat jumps to my shoulder for atention but mostly i just give pets

I haven't really ever had a pet, had to care for dogs before, they were pretty chill, i also did Cats but i cannot say i'm too trusting with cats from experience, even if some seemed inoffensive.

There was that Shiba Inu i babysited, she needed love so i gave her a hug after a while, so she is more trusting i think it did help, her owner sadly had to leave her home far too often which is i needed to help, she wasn't very social and pretty agressive with other animals.
