People that demand perfect grammar and pronunciation from others need to look in the mirror.
If everybody wrote everything in perfect grammar and pronounced everything in the most perfect manner, the world would be boring and people would be indistinguishable from each other, because the way they speak and write reflects their personality.

If there were no linguistic differences people would still find something to isolate certain groups of people for being inferior in other ways.
The perfect is the enemy of the good.

Nobody expects perfection, but ♥♥♥♥ like "their" vs. "there" vs. "they're," and "marshal law" instead of "martial law" should be shamed.

The people who swear they never use pronouns are particularly cringe.

I'm only a grammar nazi around people who complain about people not being able to speak the language.

If you give me, "If you don't speak the language get out of the country", I'm gonna hound your ass for the smallest infraction.

My mother is one of those people.
The thing is, if you're educated well then proper grammar should be your natural method. It should take no effort.

Any everyone makes mistakes so we're not going for perfect, here. but wehn i hav t o squint n try mak out what us ay ther is problams.

If you're going to type in a forum, you should know the difference between "there," "they're," and "their" as it does in fact make the person look a little stupid.

Everyone makes mistakes, and there's of course a level of attention that's expected for every situation. If you're texting a friend or posting a comment online, who cares how you write as long as its readable.

But if I'm reading a book, an article, or really anything involving professional writing, and there are two grammar mistakes from the get-go, I'm not gonna bother finishing it. I'm just gonna assume the author lacks either the focus or the talent to write anything worth reading.
It's about respect.

Communication is about using words and images to pass ideas from one person to another. If you have even a slight amount of respect for yourself and the people you are communicating with, you will make an effort to make yourself understood.
People that demand perfect grammar and pronunciation

Well part of that is there's people from all around the world and they rely on translation to communicate, If what you're saying isn't perfect in your language then the translation will be wrong and people won't understand you.

That's a reasonable opinion, but I do make exception for good fiction. I've actually encountered some books that were awful and full of all kinds of mistakes, but I continued reading them because the plot and storytelling was good enough.
Oh no, how dare I expect people to string together a coherent sentence in an age where their devices do half the work for them ...

Grammar’s going down the drain, and people are giving it a standing ovation.

Are we talking fanfics here or actual edited-and-published novels?
