actually weridly enough, i am thinking that the QTEs in RE4/RE5 are some of the ONLY good examples of QTEs in video games. i will admit to being kind of biased, as a horror/re fan. but the ways they are implemented do not really "replace" gameplay. they just add additional aspects to it (or cutscenes)
and they would like to participate in these by pressing buttons, watching without interaction doesn't satisfy them.
its hard to think if there is only one move their hero can make and only a long film of story to watch through. and people will still prefer game towards video or books.
metal gear solid 2,doesn't have as much qte,but the hero has many moves, hold up, tranquilize, knock out are the enemies reaction ,
its about having many moves and reaction that makes game interesting,
qte is about getting players through visual stunt of story and still allow them to participate somehow. not actually playable, shouldn't be considered so.
The RE 4 knife fight was one of those annoying ones where if you missed you had to just rewatch the entire thing. Even missing just once was enough to be an annoyance. I didn't want to watch them go through the dialogue a second time.
on pc i dont see so much fan of qte
console maybe, ask them
I think it's universally hated by both groups. I'm not sure why gaming companies keep adding it to their games. I think there are parts of the games they create where they don't know how to make that specific part playable, so they make it a movie and load it with quick time events. It's obnoxious either way.
