I think as far as horror movies are concerned Insidious is pretty tame, but has jump scares and images that may give you nightmares.
It's rated PG-13. So I don't think a movie theater would even stop you from watching it if it were a recent movie.
It does have demons and it talks about things related to death. It's a work of fiction.
PG-13 is a content rating that means "Parental Guidance: Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13". It's used in the United States by the Motion Picture Association film rating system and in other countries, including: Singapore, Jamaica, United Arab Emirates, and Thailand.
Imagine your soul left your body so you can save your son from the devil. But if you take too long other souls will come by and take over your body. Yeah… very tense.
