Drinking age 18 or 21?
Do you think the MLDA should be 18 or 21?
I have long agreed with a MLDA of 21 at least in the United States due to the strong dependence on motor vehicles as a form of transportation. It has been shown that a MLDA of 21 reduces the number of underage drinkers and saves lives.

Looking to hear about the opinions of people here. What do you think?

Yet you can buy fireweapons.

I remember as a teenager, about the age of 15, school was 10 hours per day, and during lunch break we would go to pub to drink a couple of beers.

Nobody has died.

This is illegal in your country. :)

But they're dangerous! Once tried one, chocolate was good, didn't eat the plastic, but then I tried to figure out how to build the toy and my brain fried.

There were 3 people in the room. None could figure out how to build it. The instructions were more confusing than one of those Chinese cabinets you'd order off Amazon.

21. But also that should be the fighting age too. If you are old enough to die for country you should be able to drink.

As someone who lives in a country where teenagers during my teenage years could buy beer and wine at the age of 14 and buy tobacco at 16 (now its tobacco at 18 and soft alcohol at 14).

I say they should increase the drinking as well as smoking age to at least 29 or 30. People in their 20s are just way too immature to consume such type of drug and their pre-frontal cortex isn't fully developed.

I don't mind that people CAN join the military under the drinking age, it crosses a line when it's a felony to not allow yourself to be forced to fight at that age.

My favorite old timer line is "If you're old enough to die, you're old enough to drink!"

So it should be the same age as anything to do with the military - minimum
:d3_flask:
I mean, some people die before they can join the military.

3 years apart hardly make a difference alcohol is still harmfull to you regardless.

I can only say don't drink, you aint missing out on anything.

There is a plan in the UK to raise smoking age by one year every year. So people who started can continue, but there will be no new smokers.

The same should be applied to drink.

Get rid of the law completely. Making alcohol normal and boring on top of it already tasting horrible will probably do more to reduce drinking than any minimum age limit.

You do not get anything by making it 21... :steambored:

Also that below that age alredy manage to bypass that rule anyways... :steambored:

18 is fine.

Hell over here it's not even that hardly enforced. Just look old enough and you'll be served a cider or a beer just fine. It's hard liquor that might demand an ID and even then it's a soft maybe. People are better educated on drinking responsibly.

And there's always the Baileys situation in which kids drink it a bit during christmas because it's Baileys.

The goal is deterrence; not everybody will follow the law, and that's nothing new. If you make it more difficult the less people will bother trying.

Some States did that when the feds put road funding behind alcohol being 21. I don't see why drinking effects anyone if you aren't driving unlike second hand smoke and with driving you need certifications to do it so IDK why the people with those certifications get to dictate the law to people without them rather then just making it harder to drive.

It just means the law only applies to people who aren't charismatic enough to be able to break it, essentially punishing people for not being manipulative.
