Anybody else like Spectrobes Origins?
(I am posting this on Steam since I don't really know where else to say it.)
I was looking through my game shelf the other day and found the game, I still remembered it from when it came out. I absolutly loved the game and still remembered some parts of it pretty well. I decided to boot it back up and see if it was really good or if it was just nostalgia. I had nostalgia for it since it was one of the first complex games that I played. I had never really gone past platformers until then. After replaying through some of it, a few things occured to me.

1. WOW, this game is disgustingly underated, I have never seen anything else like it. It feels like a mix of pokemon and Dark Souls.

2.(As mentioned above) The combat in this feels a lot like Dark Souls. The comabt just feels really similar, it is odd. This game came before Dark Souls, so it is either a coincidence or the one of the most "Hardcore" games out there was inspired by Disney.

3.This game is rather proggresive for women. Jim Sterling talked about how most if not all female protagonists are either surviving something or rescuing a man. That never happens with Jeena, she is always on top of things and the fact that you can switch between them, it is crazy how this game isn't thought of for being progressive.

4.These two actually have chemistry. It is rare fr a game to have two charcters seem right together, but this does it very well. Maybe it is just me, but their interactions usually felt quite beleivable. Even if they are a bit generic, at least they are consistant. Some games have women switch between "bad-♥♥♥ action girl" and "damsel in distress" which never happens with Jeena. I also can not stress enough how nice it is to see that they didn't force in a a terrible romance.

The main reason for this post is the first one listed, it is so underated. I love this game and am wondering if there is anybody else who shares my views on this. I played one other Spectrobes game on the DS, but I don't remember much more than it being pretty good, I gave up after a certain boss fight. I think Origins is the best Spectrobes game and probably one of the best Wii games, but maybe I am just blind with nostalgia.

Was there a demo or something?

It is a great game, check Amazon or see if Gamestop has it. Other than graphics, it has aged quite well.

I only ever played the original a number of years ago and didn't really enjoy it. I don't think I'd really be bothered enough to try another one, even if the sequels are a lot better.

Was it the one on DS? They play quite differently.

Yea, it was the collectors edition. Besides, I don't really feel like buying games for consoles that I don't really play on these days.

You don't play it now because you don't buy games for it and you don't buy games for it because you don't play it anymore :P

No, I don't play games for it because I prefer spending my time on my PC. I don't like consoles, I haven't for years.
