If they claimed that something "cannot be ported" -- that's a different story. "We don't want to" works just fine, and is actually the truth -- there really isn't much of a difference between PCs and consoles.
So that's obvious bullcrap, if they actually said that. And completely unnecessary, since it's THEIR decision anyway. It's not like someone has ordered them to make a port, and they had to find an excuse because they didn't want to.
Understand that PC is at least 3x the quality of textures, much better shaders, as well as a range of different system hardware to all support. When a console is simply locked into it's known limitation and a crappy graphic card which just looks ok for TV, but the same all round. For console, you just need to optimise the game once.
Consoles buy exclusive rights to some popular titles, to force kids over to using them. I can at least see the reason. Else we would never use a console...
