So there is this creepy pasta club at my school. I never joined them, but they got these really weird ads all over the place. What is creepy pasta supposed to be anyways?

Creepypasta are essentially internet horror stories, passed around on forums and other sites to disturb and frighten readers. The name "Creepypasta" comes from the word "copypasta", an internet slang term for a block of text that gets copied and pasted over and over again from website to website.

I personally love most of them such as Laughing Jack and Subject C? Yeah, I think thats the name.

Creepypastas are like campfire stories but they're online and they can also take the form of videos and even games, rather than just stories. As far as stories go, they are often written in first person and the narrator is assumed to be the author. As a fledgling creepypastararar myself, I should debunk a few misnomers though.

First and foremost: To call a creepypasta "Fake" as Cardboard has would be no different to calling the works of Howard Phillips Lovecraft (Cthulhu) a load of ♥♥♥♥; a shaky remark at best and a direct insult to the wordsmith in question at worst. Besides, not all Creepypastas are entirely fictional; "Trichotillomania" is about what the real life author, who has the titular mental illness, has to deal with every day of their life.

Secondly, not all Creepypastas are there solely to disturb or creep out. Many of them are designed to entertain or make about the reader think about things they hadn't really thought about. This seems to be more often the case with "Game Creepy Pastas" which is why I tend to favor those (It's a double edged sword though, while some of the best pastas are game creepy pastas, many of the worst ones are ALSO game pastas). Look up "Some Ordinary Gamers" on youtube if you wanna know more about them.

Third: Not all creepypastas are a waste of time, at least if you enjoy this kind of thing as I do (Obviously). And not all of them are bad, though there are many MANY bad ones out there. Word of advise, if you wanna read a pasta, hit CTRL+F and type in "Hyper Real" with and without spaces. If you get a result, that's a bad sign.

Random Tip: Dramatic Readings of creepy pastas are the best thing ever. I find switching off the lights, putting on a set of headphones, closing my eyes, leaning back, and just listening to a youtube video is super immersive.
