Firered/LeafGreen team - Should I get a paras?(Pokemon Firered leafgreen, not red/blue, Gen III)

I have a question, should I get a paras? I am in the second gym and I currently have a Charmeleon, Mankey and Nidoran (Then a Omanyte because I chose the Helix fossil) So Should I get a paras to counter psychic types and water and anyothers? I may consider using a poliwrath instead of a Omanyte

Definitely. You need to be in the 42th gym to get a ducas which beats the paras in all respects, but until you get there (make sure you get double-helix and triple-X until then), a paras isn't such a bad choice.

Poliwraths may or may not be a good idea. Wrath can help a lot in general, but having multiple wraths means that none of them are really all that great.

Also, since you have Charmeleon, Mankey and Nidoran, make sure you also get a Femran to compensate for your lack of air power.

Geez... you could at least have mentioned the name of the game you're looking at :-)

Would Vileplume/Oddish be a good choice?
Along with maybe an abra near 2nd gym?

yes. or if you wanted an electric type, backtrack to viridian forest to catch a pikachu. also, you should have specified that you were playing red and not green.
