Non-violent co-operative games
Hi,

My sister and I are both on Steam and are looking for games to play online together.
We're both into games with good story, but not first-person shooter or particularly violent. (Some violence is fine, but not lots of killing and blood, etc.)

Portal 2 is something we're looking to play -- but we're hoping to find other games that have story and maybe puzzle-solving, e.g. point-and-click games, adventure games, that sort of thing… engaging and/or thinking games.

Any suggestions?

Well, I think you'll get a larger response if you post in the Help and Tips subforum, this subforum is for suggestions towards Valve, so its more appropriate to post there. As for co-op puzzle games, I might have one, but you'd probably have to get two more friends(the experience isn't as enjoyable with pubbies). I forget what the name of the game is, but there's 4 of you, and you each have a seperate power, and it requires you to use your powers to work solve the puzzle to progress. Totalbiscuit's done a video on it.

I have a few suggestions. Firstly, you might want to consider Octodad: Dadliest Catch, it features a co-op mode and has a setting to randomise which person controls certain parts of Octodad, making it a quite funny and challenging game.

Another you may want to try (although it does have a steep learning curve) is Awesomenauts, its a side scrolling platformer MOBA which is presented like some kind of Saturday morning cartoon. I like this game, but it is incredibly tough online, so if that kind of experience is undesirable you could just play against the bots.

Finally, there is a puzzle game called Monaco, but I haven't played that myself yet so I don't know how much killing is involved, I just know it requires co-operation between the players to effectively solve the level.

I hope this helps!
The Lego Games (Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, Pirates of the Caribbean) are pretty nice, non-violent and quite fun.

Trine / Trine 2 is a nice (co-op) platformer (bit of violence is in as you are killing monsters as well, but nothing too bad in my opinion).

Minecraft might also be something to enjoy together, you can also decide if you want to play with or without monsters, which makes it more relaxed to play.
Alternatively Terraria if you want it to be directly on Steam, which is kind of similar, but in 2D instead of 3D.
I second the lego games... there is some fighting but no blood and a lot of puzzle solving.

when a lego character is killed he bursts into a pile of lego blocks. its more cute than violent.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
I shall also post this in Help & Tips -- I didn't realize I'd posted in the not-best place.
