Computer lag after formatting
Hi there!

I formatted my computer about a month ago. Everything seemed to be working just fine and it didn't seem slow or anything.

I have recently noticed that it can't handle games that well. I only play simple games like Portal 2 and CS GO, and I know my computer can handle those on high graphics above 60 FPS.

Whenever I start out a game in CS GO I'm at around 100-120 FPS. But after a few minutes I'm down to 40-60, and dropping down to 10-20 FPS regularly during gameplay. The sound also studders whenever this happens.

I've tried a lot to get this to work...

- Tried every single conceivable setting and "startup settings" in CS GO
- Updated and reinstalled Nvidia drivers from scratch
- Installed ASUS Live Update to install the new drivers to other hardware

...but nothing seems to be working :/

I know it sounds like overheating, but all games worked flawlessly before formating. Any idea what could be wrong? Help is appreciated!

Make sure its not a connection issue with the game(s) servers. or your ISP.

Vacuum out the laptop vents. Even check inside to see any "carpets" that may have appeared from lots of *cough* dust.

No 3rd party crapware programs running or installed.

Malware or dodgy programs that by now can also affect or steal gpu usage.

Get an anti virus and internet security program.

And maybe check the inside of the laptop for burnt, broken or loose wiring or components.
