Why do kids at school lack the ability to see reason?
I go to school sadly. I'm in 8th grade. The other students never take anything to heart. Nothing, no matter how loud an adult yells, no matter how badly they are failing, they still continue to ♥♥♥♥ around constantly. I've even tried talking to them, and it works for 2 minutes, but they just revert to their original mindset. The thing I don't understand is why? Why are they unable to see reason both from a teacher and a fellow student? Is it some psychological thing?

"Yes I know my enemies,
They're the teachers who taught me to fight me,
Compromise, conformity, assimilation, submission,
Ignorance, hypocrisy, brutality, the elite.
All of which are american dreams" - Rage against the machine

Comformity to higher authority is overrated, when your generation has already seen what higher authority has done for it's people and where it's heading...

This is has been used throughout history:

It doesn't work as well on youth brains, instead kids will question it more or completely ignore/disregard it. However, adults over years and years of brainwashing will simply accept higher authority - however weither it's postive or negative doesn't matter. You are programmed to conform to higher power over time...

You can always use people who pump gas and wash dishes at McDonalds, no need to lose sleep over somebody who dont care about their own life.

These are children we are speaking about here. Not adults who have made poor decisions. These are young people who are influenced by adults and peers alike. My point is that they at the least deserve a fighting chance from society! That is what school should be doing anyway. Helping them build structure, character, develop a morale code and sense of self. I'm speaking to the entire educational process here. (From K-12 through college) This responsibility also falls to the community as a whole. As Artificial Proxy alluded to it starts in the home first, but as a Democracy, we all play a role!

You treat your kids too much like toddlers in US, in Scandinavia and most of Europe the 8th grader is already lot more independent, opinionated and usually has some rough idea what they want to do with their future.

...because as soon as you try to discipline little johnny the mother calls the lawyers. School gets sued. Teacher loses job. No more disciplining by school.

Remember such a thing as a clip round the ear? Or having a board eraser thrown? Not any more.

What they called discipline back in the 1900s is now child abuse today.

Sweden is digging themselves into a hole with their pampered well-beign society and billion laws about everything. And liberal immigration policy. Soon they have nothing left but army of senior citizens and bunch of foreigners who dont work and dont want to work at all and instead live on insane compensations from government.

It is rather sad that they have low birth rates and they'll be a minority in their own country by 2050, Japan is doing it right by never allowing foreigners to become japanese citizen.

My view on Sweden is probably influenced mostly by newsmedia and judging from that the country is not doing so hot lately. And compared to some countries the compensations are still large, there is a reason why not a single immigrant wants to come where I live for instance. :p
But better drop the topic indeed before the thread gets closed.
