Torn Money?
I have a torn 5 dollar bill - torn into 4 pieces - but one small piece is missing. I've looked everywhere but just got answers like: 'you can still take it to the bank.' I don't need to know I can take it to the bank, I want to know if stores will accept the money. My bet is that there is still a little over 75% of the bill intact, and both serial numbers are visable. Any form of confirmation is largley helpful, granted the information given is valid.

You have any evidence to support that claim? I don't want to sound brash or anything, but I can't believe a one sentance answer like that unless I know it's the truth.

If ONE section of the bill is 51% or greater intact, that section and only that section is usable by law. But if it is multiple sections that are put back together, it will not be accepted.

No need to be nasty, I'm well aware how much a five dollar bill is worth. In case you didn't read the entire thread, I said I'd leave it open. If you don't have an answer to the thread question, what are you doing on this post?

If you go to a bank, I believe they are obligated to exchange it for a new bill. Then they handle the damaged and worn currency in circulation.
