Looking for non M-rated good games
Hi,

I'm conducting a research about how different gamer's play the same game in a different way. But I've come across a problem, all the games I've found are M-rated (17-18+ years of age) and I am looking for a game that is:
A) Rated for ages 13 and up.
B) Interesting enough that 13-18 year old's will play it for a few weeks for a couple dozens of hours.
C) Games that have a component of decision-making that effects the game plot or gameplay, e.g. killing (or not) a character, rushing through or accomplishing all the optional sub-objectives, stealth or head-on, and so on…
D) Keeps a good, elaborated stats, such as game progress, objectives accomplished, and some sort of documentation about the decision making process in the (B) criteria.
E) The game must be able to run on a PC by steam or some other similar platform.

The games I found so far that worked for me on all parameters but the age category (they were rated M) were: Skyrim, Dishonored and GTA4.

I would be really thankful if someone could help out, as many options as possible would be appreciated…
I know it's a bit of a challenge…

Thanks!

Divinity Dragon commander.
The RTS part is pretty meh, but at least you can use a computer to do some battles and they are overall short.
But the political aspect and characters are awesome.
Also The witcher 1 & 2. But to bad they are 18+.
Why does age rating matter anyway?

Why does the age thing matter, if the game is good?

I was going to suggest Final Fantasy VII, Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures, or Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+ but none of them have that changeable story you desire.

Thanks, I'll look them up and give them a try.
While I completely and utternly agree with both of you, the ethics commity oversighting this research is concered about the exposure of 13-18 to violance. I know, I know, we have already shown them studies that anyway more than 70% of the adolescents iin these ages play M-rated titles, they still want us to located a more benign game...

i would reccomend two games:

thomas was alone - a short indie puzzle game with spectacular voice acting and a simple but brilliant story, not many choices but it is a brilliant game if a little short (get this game)

and:

the stanley parable - possibly the best game i have ever played, the game is entierley baced on choices with a mind bending story that will stick with you forever, and so jam-packed with humor and secrets to make sure you keep coming back. It features the best voice acting i have ever seen and i have just decided it IS the best game i have ever played

buy this game and go in blind, any research will spoil it, but it is completely child frendly and everyone i have seen who has played it have been amazed, i must stress that you must not do any research, just buy this game, and play it youreself.

you wont regret :)

Thanks 42, but before I'm giving it to the kids, I have to research it :-) even if it'll spoil the fun a bit... thanks for the leads!
