How do Americans even work if they get mad that they don't get tips?
Literally the only country in the world where the workers are greedy enough to think they're entitled to a tip.

minimum wage should never include tips.

It doesn't l. Tipping jobs pay a fraction of minimum wage in the US.
its not minimum wage if you are not paid it.

i know it doesnt work the same for usa and uk/europe etc but in the uk minimum wage means you are paid no less than that amount per hour.

The internets flooding with clips of American useless workers spitting on peoples food, damaging property and refusing delivery because the people paying their wages won't "tip" them.

It's sad and hilarious because when you bring it up Americans get so angry. I work in food service and retail where I live and we don't get tips, we get wages, hourly wage, just like they do. Greedy mofos honestly.

Being culturally foreign certainly does make it look outrageous for sure.

"culturally foreign"

You guys scalped all the native culture (my ancestors), revolutionised out your European cultural ancestries (also my ancestors) and anyone you imported into the country afterwards you culturally mindwiped.

It means that here, too. With the exception of waiters, delivery drivers, etc.

Any other job legally can't pay less than minimum wage.

Ahh. The real heart of the issue.

Corporations trying to push the burden of a paycheck onto consumers, AND the price of the product. I don't pay tips or use services that even have them if I have a choice.

Tipping in restaurent where you are served with curtesy is normal to me
Delivery... well if you can't or don't want to tip you also have the option to get off your butt and go get it ... and don't tip yourself.

Not so much "the workers are greedy". It's more so "the restaurants are paying them peanuts (and expecting customers to foot the rest), the government's allowing them to do this, and everyone's somehow okay with this".

I fail to see how this improves the customer service provided by the servers. It just makes the servers passive-aggressively (or sometimes straight up aggressively) ask for a tip without really earning it. I've heard plenty of horror stories from friends and relatives who visited the US, including one where the server chased my aunt down several blocks to ask for a tip. Quality customer service.

Sorry Dweedle, but you don't quite know what you're talking about here.

It depends a bit on what industry you are talking about exactly, but there are many workers who don't get an hourly wage of any real substance. In the US the federally mandated minimum wage is $7.25 USD per hour, however, if the employee receives tips, the mandated minimum drops to $2.13 per hour.

Most servers working in a restaurant only get that $2.13 (or marginally higher) per hour from their employers. Their 'paychecks' are an absolute joke, the entire expectation in the industry is that they will earn their living through tips (and those that don't tip after having been served by them have essentially made them work for free). A few things worth noting: Restaurants are paying almost nothing out of pocket for servers (as customers are expected to pay their server's wages) so the price of their labor also isn't a part of the price you are paying when you, for example, order a steak. It is also worth noting, the servers may also be expected in the restaurant where they work to also share a portion of their tips with other workers (busboys, bartenders, etc)(whether that is true or not and just all who a server may have to share a portion of their tips with varies from establishment to establishment). Also note that servers will have to pay taxes out the money that they get tipped (though, out of the tips paid in cash, it is very easy to under-claim how much they have made)

Those working in other positions that it is considered common to tip may be earning more than the $2.13 a server earns, but it might still be less than the $7.25 for non-tipped positions.

That isn't to say there aren't 'greedy mofos', but it isn't so straight forward as you seem to believe it to be (though usually if they are 'going viral' on the internet, their behavior/expectations are what most in the US would consider ridiculous).

It is greed on employers part as tipping is used as a loophole to pay below minimum wage. They pay a percentage of minumum wage and the true minumum wage is expected to be filled through tips from customers.
Not all jobs are like this. My job i get paid 30 dollars an hour plus the labor fee of 75 dollars for all the pc's i work on. We are not allowed to accept tips.
