Double Speak on Gun Control

Hey Steam. Don't close this again. I promise quoting Joe Biden isn't inciting terror or violence. I will try to phrase this as clearly as possible. Considering the topics that get left up on here this is pretty benign. Ahem.

In an interview about the individual right to bear arms current president Joe Biden stated that we as a people didn't need to have weapons of war on our streets, stating that the AR15 was too dangerous and too powerful. No sane person should need one. As an alternative, he states, "Buy a Shotgun!"

It is obvious that the politicians in charge have no idea what a weapon of war IS... or maybe they really do and just do not wish to articulate it. Shotguns have historically been and still are brutally effective combat weapons. In regards to the amount of lead dispensed they are pretty much unmatched. In regards to murder, assault weapons rank below hammers and even fists. The lowly handgun leads the metrics, but you do not see anyone coming after granddad's bedside drawer companion.

If Biden and the Democratic party want their desired result the only option is A COMPLETE BAN. Common sense gun control doesn’t exist so long as there are humans. Evil intentions and demented individuals are unfortunately a baked in problem. The voters and politicians have no problems stating their position on firearms but always come short of saying what they want. "We aren't coming for your guns!" with actions proving the polar opposite.

If you want the Second Amendment struck down, the politicians particularly need to grow a pair and say it. I would honestly respect them more for it.

This statement was made by someone who wanted to go to war with the US and what stopped them from invading was the fact that he knew every American had a gun.

You seem to have misinterpreted my point. I want these people to speak their true intentions and that a weapon of war is a very loose definition. Criminals don’t use ARs, the vast majority of violent crime / homicide is committed with pistols. The sort of crimes that ARE commited with ARs would arguably be WORSE if the AR was banned due to what these knuckleheads would resort to. Overall casualties may go down, but fatalities would go up.

It's not "double speak"... the Democrats want a total and across the board gun ban for all guns... even hunting guns. We all know that's what they want... to remove the Second Amendment.They just think they're being sneaky and doing it a little at a time...

Anything can suck when it's at mediocre level.

If the America way of life is guns and freedom, then it should have been done with quality. Everyone can own a gun. There are fun hunting sports. There are no murderers, there is a system to protect people. There is a nice marketing on the brands and models. With this epic setting, it will be really cool to own and talk about guns.

When you do it with quality, you can make every other country without a gun jealous.

Unfortunately right now there are problems - Innocent people were killed. Students were killed. The result did not pass.

It's like a grounded child asking for freedom to do things. That is not wrong, every child deserves freedom - But that child needs to prove himself with good grades first. The child needs to deliver that confidence first. Otherwise it's only fair that the child is grounded.

I think it takes time to heal the current bad score (of innocent people dying). It takes time to earn back that trust that having guns is the way. Until then it should have been temp banned. Sometimes a demonstration of patience is the first step to gain greater things. Don't kept challenging the law and forcing a change. Look at what can done to improve it's quality before asking for support.
