I recently raged my ass off over New Luigi U. Getting to the end of the levels wasn't hard at all. But the damn star coins... The damn star coins...
Golden Sun and Lost Age frustrated me with how much filler they had. Like, look, I really don't care that this tree is sad because everyone forgot its birthday. Can I go save the world now? Kung Fu dude is bored because nobody can give him a challenge, I'm sorry, can this be a side quest please?
One that frustrated me with its story rather than Gameplay was Tales of Symphonia. It had a pretty good setup with complex social structures and stuff and then they ruined it by giving the bad guy a literal 12 year old's vague myspace post for a motive.
Games that make it out of Early Access, go into Super Secret Post-Release Development (Dev's relase 1.0 due to Publisher/Timing pressures) and then later add in mechanics or change existing mechanics that actually change the gameplay... of a released product I purchased that is no longer the released product I purchased.
I don't get a do-over on paying the developers for a product. But, they can then change that product however they wish and I can't change the payment I made, months or even years ago, however I wish.
And, nobody gives a crap, 'cause everyone involved already has my money.
This is the equivalent of buying a silver car that you like and the car manufacturer breaks into your garage in the middle of the night and paints the care Orange... You can't complain. You can't return it. You have no consumer protection and no rights to cry "Foul."
So, yeah... there ya go - This grinds my gears.

No, the menu managing wasn't what I thought was not fun. It's the slow combat that is slow for the sake of being slow. I've seen it said that it's more "strategic", it isn't. The game is so easy, there's no need for it, unless you turn up to the harder difficulties, but even that isn't really strategic. Making enemies do a million damage to you, and making them damage sponges is literally what every game does. Exploration is boring, the puzzles aren't interesting or memorable, some of the controls are odd, and unless you min-max your team, the end game is grindy as hell on the harder difficulties toward the end. Getting animation locked preventing you from a "strategic" counter (because apparently that's what this game i̶s̶ isn't)
