For example, REALLY enjoyed Maneater and Alien vs Predator 2. Are there similar games where I can be a monster and grow/level up as I destroy everything and everyone in my path?

Single player please, don't have many gamer friends in the same time zone.

Well we do tend to murder thousands upon thousands of people in any given open world game anyway. So GTA perhaps?

There's a lot of sandbox-style games where you can be evil as well.

Hmm, difficult. Most games don't let you play as a villain, but as an anti-hero at best.

I enjoyed luring the demons into their friendly fire and then watch them destroy each other. (This was possible with the old versions. I don't know about the later version). Then I killed off the remaining survivors. I felt like the devil at that time.
