This is likely in retaliation of UBlock still being able to block youtube ads, which youtube might actually get in trouble for in EU court, for using detection scripts to detect adblock programs.

If youtube stuck to 15 sec ads max i wouldnt mind watching 2 or 3 every 20 mins or so, i hate when a surprise 3 min+ ad just pops up and forces me to skip it, annoying

Or...they remove skip button and force you to watch worthless ads. Only I've seen on picture that they got like an hour ad.
