Google confirms they will block Ublock Origin in chrome in 2024.

And where do I go once they will block extension in 2024? Firefox? Or Brave? I say fudge them.

And you're surprised?.... seriously?

Firefox for the win... always has been.... always will be

The insight is the quote from the article. Until it's rolled out, we won't know for sure.
I guess I have to wait for more news from ublock reddit. Maybe to find another alternative.

https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uBOL-home/releases

The developer has crafted an MV3 extension based on uBlock Origin. It is "permissionless" and houses fewer lists but it works. You still have 6-7 months or whatever to make a decision. For now, it's OK. I'm sticking with Brave until it caves. The heck with Chrome and Google search.

firefox will still work great.

the only way they'll stop adblocking on youtube is to go to subscription only locked service, and ads won't matter at that point anyways.

besides, youtube isn't hte only kid on the block anymore, people will move wherever its easiest, google is just getting too power and too profit hungry.
This may make you smile. I didn't think of it until watching the video. Basically the average user is going to use what's provided. Yet the fact that YT said "Adblocker" has some asking what is an adblocker and now interested in getting them.

Louis also posted a video 4 days later discussing how YT may be breaking the privacy law in the EU. Reasoning is YT has to run code that you didn't authorize and since it scans your computer it may be breaking EU's privacy laws.

I do not use crap Chrome not even in Android so I do not care.

There are ways to bypass the ad-block detection system but if they persist I will just watch videos somewhere else.
Well if anyone ever wanted to know whos interest google has, it's clear now.

Non-chrome/google users, will laugh as uBlock continues to function, and can continue blocking "anti adblock" lines or scripts. Also consider looking into blocking widevine/widevinecdm & not using "ambient mode" for YTs vid settings, seems to save a lot of CPU since that seems to have gone up a lot recently (about 1/4th CPU use now) which I noticed since this workstation CPU is supposed to use a very low amount for YT.

Hopefully this is the push people need to stop using google products, use adblockers, and consider things like "PiHole".

If the EU decides to take action this is one time they're actually doing some good in regard to online activity.

For a parent company owning YT that seems to do as much as they do, they sure made it easy to block entirely.
People still use Chrome?

Chrome's global market share is 63%. Compare that to 5.5% for Edge and (:steamsad:) 3% for my dear Firefox. I've always taken Google's actions very seriously because they trickle down to the others in some way. Shoot, Firefox gets a lot of revenue from Google for making its default search engine...yeah Google. Yuck.

Google is a trillionaire company, up there with NVIDIA and good ol' Microsoft.
Never forget that the end user is the real product here.

The only thing it's good for is to get into Twitch... for some reason Twitch likes Chrome

Otherwise right?... might was well just give all your info to Google

From what I noticed and compare with Ublock and Lite are two different. With this Lite, meaning I can't filter it to bypass it?

I'm curious to see their outcome. Not to mention their detection was declared as spyware.
Welcome aboard to Firefox! Also Librewolf a FOSS firefox fork being a privacy oriented version is also another good option, as mentioned earlier in the thread.
Alphabet Corporation aka Google, are a multi trillions worth corporation why they need even more profit from ads?

Brave has a built-in ad-block it isn't part of an extension. I ain't worried since tracker/adblocking and privacy are the only selling points for Brave (Their BAT tokens are trash), they are already planning on how to deal with this.

Manifest v3 is a war crime on it's own. https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2023/07/googles-web-integrity-api-sounds-like-drm-for-the-web/2/ is worse.
Thanks a lot for linking this article!
I've used Edge for years now because frankly screw Firefox and Chrome, and I don't wish to use Brave as to me Brave is just a 3rd party Tor browser (and Tor in of itself is just a browser ran by the FBI and MI5 as a means to access websites that usually should not be accessable to start with and to display how dangerous the deepweb is)

Thats my views of it, I use add-ons only from the Microsoft store, and their store has both Ublock Original and UBlock experimental

lol. You had me there for a second.
THat's funny, Youtube is losing this war against adblockers and they're never going to have any success.
No matter how much they try.
