So it's not same as Firefox as it was? I expect the feature may look different to me.

Which feature, the UI skin...?

I think UI skin because I prefer things like dark mode or something.

Google is a bunch of communist technofascist barbarians who should be driven from society outright.

Google are the polar opposite. They are what corporate culture becomes without regulations. The only thing they're missing to be straight out of Shadowrun is a Dragon running the corporation.

I like Chrome.

I can certainly live without being able to adjust the font on the tab bar or whatever dumbass pointless feature you haters think not having is unbearable.

I would have said William Gibson-style, but Shadowrun basically ripped him off. But then, most cyberpunk is derived from him and/or Shiro Masamune.

Why is this associated with specific, often finnicky and hard to utilize hardware that often insists on leaving certain ports and tunnels open on a hardware level?
if you follow the directions and ask questions if you want to change something you're fine.
here's one example of that happening: https://discourse.pi-hole.net/t/what-ports-are-required-for-pihole-to-work/6203

Pihole blocks all ads, seemingly it can't block YT ads. Yea, I believe what was said in that video is correct, pihole can't block YT ads reliably. That vid was 4 years old. Sucks for those that have to use the YT mobile app: https://discourse.pi-hole.net/t/how-do-i-block-ads-on-youtube/253

I've a feeling it'll be an uphill battle for Brave. There are some potential issues.
  • Brave doesn't block ads on mobile apps, or run on TV, Video Game Console, etc. For that, pihole is an option, Just not for YT.
  • Recently, if you used Brave logged into YouTube and had YT ads blocked, then YouTube knew as you logged into YT through Brave. They're focused on removing all adblockers on YT. Seems, if using Brave, the safest seems to use incognito for YouTube, don't loginto anything Google, disabling all VPN settings in Brave, including windows startup.
  • I have seen Google Maps on Firefox Desktop have traffic view disabled, yet it was functional in Chrome Desktop. Meaning, Google could just start messing with your experience, who knows. Remember when syncing Google bookmarks was disabled on non-Chrome browsers?

Imagine how easy it'll be for Google todo the same for all of their services, like Google Maps and Google.com; RIP Google News users. Also, I heard Google AI, their ChatGPT competitor, is releasing next month, who knows.

I believe Brave is the best answer for YT: https://community.brave.com/t/blocking-youtube-ads-without-adblockers-brave-shields-or-3rd-party-softwares-full-guide-on-how-to-supercharge-your-brave-browsers-yt-experience/

And they all basically did "homework" assigned by Philip K [redacted].

To the people mentioning Brave, I'm pretty sure that's chromium-based too.
It is, I think everyone's better off switching to Firefox. Take control away from Google.
Yeah, I switched to Firefox not too long ago.

Firefox is pretty permissive with its themes, although I have heard that many themes break browsers as if they were designed to do so.

How about a Hydra? They're the one actually running the UK, so...

Also it's arguable that all regulation is just an on-ramp for decentralized control, like we have now. It's historically true, if not necessarily true.

Gibson comes off as someone who time-traveled to the 70s to release mediocre contemporary SF. The inexplicably rampant spelling and grammatical errors, which are different every edition, only raises more questions.

Masamune's works are highly derivative, and GitS is respected because a completely different creative team came in and worked on it. The reboots are much closer to the source material, and they're junk.

I'm not asking for customer service help; I'm asking why this insecure hardware is so popular for privacy uses. Is it the simplicity, and easy access to knowledge bases meant to help diagnose and work around issues? Such as the issues built into the hardware.

From the article;

Improving content filtering support by providing more generous limits in the declarativeNetRequest API for static rulesets and dynamic rules

The latter specifically applies to ad blockers, with Google noting how “extension developers provided convincing evidence” that led the team to increase a previously imposed limit and relax other safety-derived restrictions.

It seems it isn't as doom and gloom as being spread. Ublock Origin may be able to work just as well along with other ad blockers.

Firefox ftw
The nameless Gamer 16 NOV 2023 a las 14:24
That said, I stopped using Chrome as soon as I figured out just how much it keeps Malwarebytes busy. The third time it removed spyware and adware from my system each time I ran Chrome, there was an obvious pattern. Firefox from then on.

This is more about Google not allowing ads to be block when they have a bad history of allowing malicious ads. But you've already been told this in a previous thread.
Hammer Of Evil 16 NOV 2023 a las 14:27
firefox will still work great.

the only way they'll stop adblocking on youtube is to go to subscription only locked service, and ads won't matter at that point anyways.

besides, youtube isn't hte only kid on the block anymore, people will move wherever its easiest, google is just getting too power and too profit hungry.
