Not using ad or script blockers is why if you have just a few tabs open you'll notice your browser can take 8gb or more of RAM.

Brave is basically Chromium, which is basically Chrome. For a while they actually used uBlock to provide their script blocking services before switching to something else. But, do you thing Google is going to stop at uBlock? They're just the most popular one at the moment. Google is targeting the very idea that YOU think you're going to have any control over your own browser and they have to start somewhere.

The amount of users who use an ad-block are greatly outweighed by users who don't.

Companies like Google only have the power people give them. Stop using their products and services if they start doing things that are against your interest, and take your patronage elsewhere. Hard to watch youtube on a text-only browser. Neat that later versions had javascript so youtube could still check if you had a blocker plugin installed.

YouTube hasn't given me any issues, despite using Edge with AdGuard extension. I don't have YT Premium, either, and the videos play normal regardless of whether I'm logged into my Gmail account or not.

There must be something I'm doing that y'all ain't considered.

FanboyNZ who does the EasyLIsts, Annoyances and others in uBO currently handles the ad and content blocking for Brave browser.

I'm seeing all kinds of alarmist posts on X/Twitter, with many saying to leave Chrome now and other silliness. Why? There are MV3 content blockers already there, plus MV3 is still far off on the horizon. Once Google starts in mid 2024, it still has to run thru the dev builds of Chrome before reaching the mainstream and who knows how long that'll take.

Fanboy does his own lists, and they're decent. But he's only a third-party that the bigger devs incorporate into their extensions as part of the offerings.
