"Yandere" is not a word.

The removed text from the edit came down to the fact that people don't know what that is. The word cannot be found in an English dictionary. How are people supposed to know what that is?
Me when search engines don't exist

Regardless, Japan doesn't need to be associated with that. Because the notion of such a character-type may also have meaning in other languages. Why should Japan have exclusivity?
idk, why did greek have exclusivity when it came to english words with greek roots?

I Googled it... it's not that hard to do.
Google will always come up with a few websites. You can also search aliens, but that doesn't make aliens what you think they are. Or at least not according to any official definition or paper.
It's on the internet, so it must be true and correct? Is that what you're saying?
Somebody can simply make up an imagionary word and make that searchable on Google.

I am not sure about the Greeks.

Yandere:
A term for a person who is loving and caring to someone they like until their love, admiration and devotion becomes feisty and mentally destructive in nature through over protectiveness, violence, brutality or all three combined. Yandere is mentally unstable and uses extreme violence or brutality as an outlet for their emotions.

Simply put, a yandere is lovesick; someone who has been driven to insanity by extreme obsession or love, thus resulting in abnormal behaviour if not violence. Take the tropes "Love Makes You Crazy", "Love Makes You Evil", "Love Hungry" and "Stalker with a Crush", turn them all up to eleven, and condense everything into a singular personified character archetype.

hm, could it be that usage simply stuck around because there was no evident reason to change it?
could it be that maybe language progressed that way by mere usage, and this is also what's happening in the situation with the word "yandere"?
Maybe. But I am not sure if this character-type hasn't already been done before, and is not already commonly known as a possessed character, in plain English.

possessed character-

i don't think you quite understand what a yandere is
there's no spirit possessing a yandere, there's only unhealthy, parasocial, narcissistic obsession with a person, a sense of entitlement, objectification, the treatment of another person as a possession to be protected from "thieves"

none of that is possession of a character by some supernatural entity, or at least not necessarily
if it was then it would be a yandere ghost though
I don't believe in spirits.
A yandere could be a possessed. Like a wife dies young. Comes back as a spirit and find the husband remarried and goes full yandere by possessing a body.

Exactly the point I was trying to make. If they write possessed character, everybody knows what they are talking about. If they write "yandere," everyone is like: What?
A general audience cannot understand that.

I know yandere because of the hit game Yandere Simulator and that's where my yandere knowledge basically ends.

Also Austr, it's a bit of an otaku thing to know this stuff. Me? I am not an otaku, I just so happen to have that information.
let see. have an obsession with me. have false kind of positivity. a bit of stalker and will kill (or at least doing something bad to) someone just to be with someone they love. no. ♥♥♥♥ no

In anime and hentai there is also a thing called an inmon or womb tattoo.

https://dailylifewithamonstergirl.fandom.com/wiki/Womb_Tattoo

It can be supernatural in that they just form as a result of someone's intense lust or desire (like on a succubus) or it is a brand or curse mark placed on someone to make them lewd.

Like Q-T said above a weeb would just recognize this because we're absorbed so much anime knowledge we already know about it but a newbie would just see weird markings on characters.
oh, I know all about that tattoo, its the coolest tattoo out there :P6:
