Knight vs Samurai
Me and some friends are having are discussing who would win in a fight. I tell them you can never really know and that it would depend on many things. They still want to argue for fun.

Anyways I tell them I would put my money on the knight for a few factors. Europe had better quality steel than Japan, a complete suit of steel plate armor weighed roughly 40-55 pounds and was the weight was spread evenly throughout the body. Samurai armor weighed rougly the same and was less protecive as they used heavy iron. The armor is not clunky and hinders movement as seen in hollywood but was fitted for the knight who also trained in it regulary in it.

Here is a link in armor movement... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5hlIUrd7d1Q

Knights had more variety of different weapons for different enemy. Knights could be more adaptable to different fighting styles rather than the homogenous culture that the samurai would be used too.

I give an edge to knights in armor, weapons, and more adaptable and versatile.

The only agurment they have against me is they think knights were slow and the katana is a lightsaber god sword.

Both warriors would be trained to move and try to counter the other, and the katana is a cutting weapon which is not effective against armor and even though it could be used for thrusting, but that is dangerous with a shorter weapon.

Any other comments on either?

The guy with a flintlock pistol.
Both Knights and Samurai developed in different cultures, different regions and climates. Hence their weapons and strategies varied. Both cultures had a variety of weapons for different situations. Each had its own pros and cons. Comparing one with the other would be quite off the point wouldn't it?
Most important of all, it wasn't the weapons or the strategies but the Person who was fighting that would make the most difference.

depends on how they would fight
Samurai uses a katana
Knight uses Sword
Katana and sword is the same thing
but i heard katana's are more sharp and long
so i think the samurai will win
:hoxton:
That is the thing. Swords are not effective against armor. Even the katana.
Honestly I say knight because Japanese armor has weaknesses and slightly exposed ares while knights have metal everywhere even the face Knight could simply stab the samurai in the face and be done with the battle

But aren't Samurai more skilled at fighting
The Samurai would likely win... Kill Bill anyone; you can seriously mess ♥♥♥♥ up with a Katana.

I would need a source that can prove that they would be more skilled.
Also it depends what time period we are talking about, in this clip they compared a Katana to a Longsword and the Katana easily won

its individual skill not overall assumption
Of course the knight would win.

I knew this video would have some apperance. The katana is a great cutting weapon, but as seen slashing won't kill any knight. Having to thrust as such close range leaves you open to attack and has little result. Swords were not the only weapon during those times. -.-
