Was that in response to me? If so, i am not quite certain that article is right. But maybe my information is outdated. I once learned that in order to be a fruit the object in question has to blossom out of the flower.
A cucumber however has its flower at the lower end of the cucumber itself. It doesn't blossom out of the flower, the flower blossoms out of the cucumber. That doesn't make it a fruit.
