Good MMO for solo play?

I know that sounds a bit stupid, but I really like MMO games, they're great for playing when I don't "feel" like getting super interested in a story and just want to kill X of Y and collect Z.

Only thing is I need to be able to get into it without having friends to play with, whenever I play with friends we end up not being able to play at the same time the char just gets left unused.

I'm redownloading neverwinter right now, but I was wondering if you guys have any ideas?

I've actually played that, I love it... but I do prefer diablo

Should point out, it doesn't have to be f2p, I'm more than happy to buy a game... the only thing I don't like is subscriptions... dislike having to repeatedly pay for a game I already spent money on.

Star Wars The Old Republic is pretty good for solo play, I played it for quite a while on my own just to enjoy the story content. (Until it artificially restricts you to make you give them money, THEN it got annoying)

Guild wars 2. Easily playable solo, and without the guilt of subscriptions.

If you're looking for single-player RPGs that are almost exactly like MMOs, you could try Kingdoms of Amalur.

Neverwinter, pick mage. It sucks, but it is playable alone. And free.

Guild Wars 2 is a great game. Especially with the personal story missions it might be fun for solo play.

The Secret World. I'ts fun and completely doable alone.

Defiance is also basically a single-player game made into an MMO at the last moment.

Swtor is great to solo but once you finish the story line there is basicly nothing to do there anymore, still great ride while it lasts.
Every class has different story line but most of the missions will still be same for every class so after you have done it once it's not really that great anymore.
Republic and Empire story lines are different so two playthroughs will be quite ok.
