ORION: Dino Horde is all about the horde mode, space marines defending against waves of dinosaurs.
Warframe is a free to play game that's done pretty well (disclaimer: haven't played it in months, may have changed, no idea). Some of the missions are horde-mode "defend the core" type things, although there's no upgrading/building between rounds.
Killing floor for fps, but there are other games too. dawn of war 2 or starcraft 2 mods have tons of good horde modes and they are RTS games.
so....what genre?
..yeah, it did. Sure, that.
HA HA HA made me laugh, yeah horde on gears 2 and 3 is dead, its also not on PC.
well fps or tps is fine, An action shooter where you actively control the player, unlike say plants vs zombies, you have to shoot and run around etc...
Serious, mindless wave after wave of enemies to obliterate fun.
No need to worry about plot, complicated procedures, etc.
Just basically "Take this gun! Shoot all those things over there!"
The end of Zombie Shooter 1 was insane, just an uncountable number of zombie creatures and a boss that takes all of your bullets to defeat. Serious fun.
