Dark Souls is ruining the rpg industry

It seems like so many rpgs coming out that i normally would have been intersted in have dark souls esque difficulty. I hope this obsession with gaming masochism blows over pretty quickly because i'm kinda the "medium" difficulty setting guy.

Chances are some older RPG fans hate it when RPGs have it so health autoreturns after a battle or everything comes back when you level up, but RPGs that do one opf those 2 usually have the environment made dangerous enough to retain the challenge not having that mechanic would have brought.

Figured as much. RPGs that do any of those things usually make the enemies that much tougher to combat how easy it is when the autoregeneration is there though.

Dark souls isn't ruining any RPG out there. It's actually fun seeing more games like Dark Souls because Dark Souls is my most favorite game of all time.

It's the one game where if you know what you're doing you're gonna breeze through the game for most of the time. The enemies pose no threat to me any longer because I know how to deal with them effectively.

Fair difficult is just fine. Unfair difficult is what bothers me. Because then it isn't fun anymore. Dark Souls was fair. Knowledge was power in that game.
