Halo Reach, underated.
I don't know why people frown upon this Halo. It's my fav. Even though its story is not the best it has some fun missions, great firefight, best version of forge and some of the best multiplayer maps ever. Playing random downloaded modes such as teacher with friends was some of the best times I had with friends in a game. And although Halo 2/3 have a way better overall campaign (reach has some awesome missions though like new alexadria) everything about Reach is better (although Halo 3's multiplaer could be considered the best and I never played 2's).

Not sure what you mean with Halo Reach being underrated.
You forgot to mention Halo 3:ODST. Which is easily THE best Halo game EVER.

ha...haha...hahaha....(laughs crazily until coughing to death)
reach is one of the best games i played
I think mostly because people knew the outcome of the story beforehand and because some Spartans had some very stupid deaths, I dunno it felt kinda meh. Reach has its moments but it just cant compare to the epicness of Halo 1-3 because again... you know the outcome its the same as with the new Hoobit movies, they are very well done but they cant compare to the epic Lord of the Rings trilogy !
Not really overrated, but overhated for sure.
Halo Reach is easily my favorite Halo. The forge was awesome, the multiplayer was fun and didn't annoyingly punish you etc
invasion is the greatest halo game mode ever
The only real bad thing about Reach is the campaign (and the fact it's not on PC lol). The campaign isn't awful however, it's just that the book The Fall of Reach was for the most part a really cool read, and a lot of people expected the game to stay true to the book. Instead they decided to effectively re-write the story and pass the book off as not canon. It's a shame, but besides that the multiplayer and new weapons and stuff are all the fun you'd expect from a Halo game.
Halo Reach made some somewhat big changes to Halo what a lot of the fans did not like. I as a massive Halo fan took these changes to heart and to me it actually payed off. Reach had a lot of replayability and a campaign with a good story. Forge was improved drastically and custom games had a lot of replayability that just about lived up to Halo 3s. Armour customisation wasn't too bad either, but it did make me feel smaller compared to Halo 3.

It did though take some feeling away from me that I wasn't as powerful as Master Chief, what Halo 3 (+2 and CE) did make me feel like a super soldier. Also a lot of imbalanced stuff (I'M NOT TALKNIG ABOUT ARMOUR LOCK. Armour lock was fine just... needed nerfing a bit with how much you could use it) ... also got rid of the Hornet. I miss that. And the chopper. I miss that too.

Yes. It is underrated but if I was told to list my favourite Halo games, it would go like this:
1. Halo 3
2. Halo 3: ODST + Reach
3. Halo 2 Halo Wars
4. Halo CE
5. Halo 4

-I'm not saying that as CE is at the bottom, or is one of the worst Halo games. The list is my favourite Halo games. If it makes you feel better, Halo 4 is listed quite low on my favourite games of all time (like, /100) and Halo CE is one of my favourite games of all time.
Thought it was boring personally, though to be fair. I'm not overly fond of any of the Halo games. Reach had some nice multiplayer stuff but overall the campaign was as dull as dishwater and the action was as drab as all of the Halo FPS' so no, I wouldn't say it's underrated. I'd say the series as a whole is overrated if anything.

I realise this will go against the general opinion on this forum; I'm just offering an opposing view in this thread.
I think that a lot of people didn't like Reach for the same reasons that a lot of people didn't like ODST, Wars, or even Halo 4 and that's because they were different from what we knew to be Halo. ODST was a bit more open ended, Reach added elements that seriously changed how the game was played, 4 was made by a new studio and Wars was an RTS. I think the importnat thing to remember is that just cause a game is different does not make it bad. Personally, ODST is my favorite Halo game and I feel that Reach and 4 were both great, natural evolutions of the franchise. For me Halo has always been pretty good all around and the only Halo I didn't have a lot of fun with was Halo 2, but I attribute that to the vista port I had to use that was absolute bollocks.
not the best campaign? it was TERRIBLE! lets just put all the cannon overwrites to the side for a second

we get a game about the battle for reach and all of the missions are ridiculously small. for expample the mission after the sniping one with jun. you start off with a massive battle...and than get sidetracked to the smallest possible section of that battle. the space combat, everything from the tech demos bungie showed us with massive space battles looked so much better. all of the spartans are completely useless, you couldn't even swap out weapons, the ODSTs were better in H3ODST. every death past george was pointless and shoehorned in.

-there shouldn't have been any covenant aircraft around when kat got shot since jun said they had all moved away, even if that ship was there to kill spartans, why didn't it shoot at anyone else?
-Everything would have been fine if Carter hadn't ordered 6 and Jun to jump out the pelican, and him rammingg the Scarab was pointless since 6 and Emile could have snuck past it while he had it distracted
-Emile shouldn't have been suprised by the elite from behind, he would have seen it coming down, and he also has a motion tracker in his helmet!
-and 6s last stand makes absolutely no sense at all on why he would be in such a undefendable position.

Reach is by far the WORST halo campaign.

even missions I like to think of as good like new alexandria, on reflection, it's just extremely monotinous and unexciting.
The only problems I had with Reach were when Kat got shot for no apparent reason, and the super cheap Legendary difficulty where elites could just 1-hit kick you after taking 3 shotgun blasts and a punch in the back.

Playing a video game for the story is like watching a porno movie for the story.

My point is that story isn't the most important element of a game, that's why it's called a "game". I don't know why people complain about it all the time like it even matters. If you want a story watch a movie, or better yet leave the house evey now and then.
