but seriously , I wish they had some kind of univeral and official console that could just have all of the Retro games released on it ... but that is daydreaming and won't happen.
I'd go PS3/360 they don't look to bad on modern HD big screens. Still got series like Gears of War 1-3 & spin off JD is still a blast. Test Drive 1/2 like lots of OG games not on PC.
Games like L4D1/2 really struggle with frames on 360 console in split screen. Don't expect quality resolution and quality frame rates.
the light gun works but only on crt however, tested it after I bought it.
I dont own a crt so it gathers dust with my other retro consoles I picked up.
not to mention that a lot of the old tech was absolute garbage...
Anyone remember Atari 2600 cartridges and the crappy copper lead strips that were obsolescent from the go? Or later disc consoles with shoddy lasers/motors/doors?
If I can emulate it on my computer then I'm fine. Only nostalgic stuff like an upright Centipede arcade machine with trackball or older console joysticks/controllers would sway towards getting older systems.
And yes, I am The Cheapskate. In other *ahem* realms I am known as The Freeloader.
I wear those badges with honor.
