how come there are no Fight Sim's... (Fighting sims...)
hand to hand combat game simulation with different fighting styles. There is a Plethora of games raning from blunt to ranged weapons and Fictional Stuff, to Realism....(Realistic Weaponry) but what happened to the "best tool" or the best "weapon" for (a) the game?

HMBDY.

Just a thought here.

Step 1: Get a Wii.
Step 2: Get Punch-Out Wii
Step 3: Profit.
The Virtua Fighter franchise is what comes to mind, but if you don't have a console... the best you can get is Virtua Fighter 2 (available on Steam).
Do you meam a fighting game like Street Fighter or a fighting SIM? Because a fighting sim would be pretty much a fighting game...only with more time limits, less stamina and less interesting gameplay. If you are looking for a game that has melee combat with tons of weapons that handles fights a bit more realistically than most games, Dark Souls does a surprisingly good job. But if you are looking for a realistic fight simulator, it doesn't exist.

If you are just looking for unarmed combat, there are always the Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat games. But those games aren't really realistic.

something along the lines of FPS Combat, like with swords. That Medieval game springs to mind, with FPS "man to man" combat. With your limbs. Ninja. Hmm.. Can't remember 1 dedicated game of this kind on the pc.

PS, "Hi" and thanks for commenting.

Chivalry is a game that comes to mind. It is a multiplayer title and I don't really know how realistic it is. There is also an old game that used the source engine for first person melee combat...but it has been around 10 years since that came out.
exactly, I simply wondered why this is... Seeing there probably "isn't a market for it" I could understand, but just some hmm Medieval setting... Ninja gameplay... and/or a (combination) of melee, or "at least" the ability for that "option", seems like a lot of fun to me with interesting Skills and Options (potential). It would be skill based, and judging by the Technology available I think that it could work well nowadays....

Chivalry is really interesting and To Be Honest reminds me of "Thief (DarkProject)", for that game's initial concept was like that of Chivalry, only back in 99 or so, but this more or less "aside" for it was the Melee -iDea that sparked my imagination (a [long] while back).

Realism in these kinds of games (even FPS's) all comes down to:
1 Environment (map design, "Engine" content & Flexibility)
2 Ragdoll, especially this if it's "Realistically Simulated" as in Real Life, then we've got ourselves a really potentially interesting game (as in Sim.).

I think there is definitely a market for it. It is just that most action or melee titles in game history have been overly flashy and stylish with character spinning and flipping all over the place and doing all this gymnastic fighting...it wouldnt' translate to first person well.

However, now that we have games like Dark Souls where the fighting is more grounded and realistic in comparison to older games. I think a first person melee game made like Dark Souls can work surprisingly well. Devs have really been nailing the physicality of a first person system lately and I think the game you are looking for might be right around the corner.

It is actually a pretty good idea.

Hoorah :) Thanks bud, if we could work it out to paper (concept) I think it might "work".

I'm ready. "Sign me up" ;) (gots lots of "Cool" iDea's here, more or less but that's more on a humorous note; applying for a "job" [with no credentials])

Still would LOve to see such a game to exist. Ninja FPS/Melee Simulator... With "dirty fighting" and stuff... Oh man. Just the controls would be worthy of a "simulation" title. I bet it'd be _good_.

I think a game like Dark Souls with a first person perspective could work really well. Lords of the Fallen tried ripping the formula from Dark Souls with a third person option and failed. Maybe someone out there can make an attempt while using the system in a first person perspective. Not a complete rip-off, mind you, but using its combat as a template.

You would have to take the roll out though, or you would have people puking. Replace it with a dash and you are golden. Then the biggest problem would be jacking graphics detail up and making animations fit the new perspective. Biggest problem after that would be how to detect enemies that are outside of eyesight.

I was thinking purely building from 'the Grounds Up", complete new engine and stuff.... To support various "concepts".

I am very unfamiliar with Dark Souls To Be Hones (nota console "fan" but they're ok, as in HUge market,).

Dark Souls is great because, even though there are all these stats and levels and what not. The thing that matters the most is player skill. Sure...you can spend 5 days grinding to level your health up....or you can just learn to dodge attacks and go beast mode on stuff.

My point with Dark Souls is that it did a good job of slowing down melee combat in games and made the core principles of fighting important again...attack, counter, parry, block....this is the kind of stuf fthat would work in first person.

The thing I was suprised about the most with Dark Souls was that it almost became a 3D fighting game in PVP.

...as this concept has had the time to "ripe", right? (judging by the History).

Chivalry is really the game that comes to mind. Other than that, melee focused first person games are few and far between. Look how much people love competitive first person FPS titles...if someone makes a title like that for melee combat with better combat, they will be swimming in a pool of money.

transcending that Eastern Fighting style (read: styles; Karate Kung Fú, which surly would be tricky as "Hell" but then again so many games nowadays managed _so much_), then Surely it's a "good [solid] investment". Chivalry's got some solid aspects (some good ones I think I'ma buy it, ultimately) but not completely what I had in mind although interesting enough.

PS. Dark Souls, Wow!! (but "alas" it's a Franchise meaning... well worked out, you know, and stuff)
