Seriously though, he was a fantastic dude (from what I know) and he did a lot to the gaming industry. Without him and a couple others, it is very, very, very unlikely that there would be Xbox Ones, PS4s, or gaming on PCs to this day. It doesn't matter if you didn't like how he was handling Nintendo. Like him or not, he helped the industry so that people like US can play these games we have today.

Do note that we have more places to mourn than here on the official discussions such as Twitter, Steam groups, Facebook etc. that are more welcoming of these kinds of threads.

If the mods don't want RIP threads, then I think we should respect that and go elsewhere to give tribute. But if people insist on making threads here, then whatever, it's not my account on the line.

As a Wii U owner, don't get a Wii U. Wait for the NX and play Wii U games on that.

You guys worry to much and wasted the first few pages of this thread on speculation and mod wrath. There's nothing wrong with a pay your respects thread, this unites all gamers as we are all gamers in heart.

Time for me to have some fun:
Mods spent all of yesterday merging and locking redundant press F to pay respects threads. Off topic and the other boards must have been filled with RIP threads, I doubt anyone was banned solely for pasting RIP. The bans must have been for repeat topic starting and starting topics after threads were merged or locked, and they are probably the shortest ban length. For those of the master race complaining that, at the end of the day, he was still the president of a "♥♥♥♥♥♥" "console peasant" company, I must remind you, that many of us share the vision that PCMR stands out for the betterment of gaming for everyone. We speak out, as a group, against scummy tactics perpetrated by big companies, we call the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of video game developers/publishers that half-ass a job. We stand up for the common man and his money, so that he can spend his money on a well-made game, rather than one that is no better than for use as a coaster (or in this digital age, a flick of the wrist into the Recycle Bin).

For this, many of us commend Nintendo. Sure, many of their greatest games have been locked out from every other system. But if we use that as justification for calling them a scummy company, it's just downright wrong. There are much bigger fish to fry than Nintendo. I feel as if Nintendo does more good than ill, anyways. They brought the motion control fad into popularity. It was THEIR own idea. They innovate, rather than try to compete. They try new things, and bring us classic games in new, fun lights. They don't sell us ♥♥♥♥♥♥, halfass, knockoffs.

Most of all, as I stated, PCMR cares about the games. And so did Iwata. He gave so much to create many games that impacted so many, both young and old alike. He cut his own pay, to help out a fellow employee. He didn't try scummy monetization techniques. No. He stood up for the small people, making sure the games people bought from Nintendo were high quality material, worthy of our dollar. And, he made it his life work. For that, I believe we owe him an honor. I do believe we should induct him as an honorary PCMR member, and bid him good rest tonight. Let us hope his legacy shall remain tarnished, and Nintendo continues to blaze on into new territory, not reducing itself by attempting to compete with Sony and Microsoft, or the publishers such as EA and Ubisoft, etc.

NX hasn't even been revealed and it's only speculated to be announced next year. No thanks. Plus, who's to say it's even close to being finished?

seriously, steam? you delete and block threads with the topic of iwata's death?!

i was expecting to see a note to this man on the start page of steam, but there is nothing. he did so much for gaming. whether you liked his games and nintendo or not. nobody can deny that he was one of the most important persons in gaming.

Maybe have a Rememberance Page for Satoru Iwata (Head of Nintendo)

Satoru Iwata died of cancer just a few hours ago. RIP. Maybe have some type of rememberance banner for him on the store page? I know some people including myself, will have a childhood growing up playing their parents Nintendo games and then moving on to play Nintendo games that Satoru will have been involved in. Just saying it would be a nice thing considering he was a major part of the gaming community and affected many people.
