Same with why I have the urge to squish my dog's head, we humans go haywire when something is cute, we get aggressive. There's a whole study on this. Cute Aggression

You could first try a tennis ball. Should be a bit smaller or around the same size than an actual cat´s head. It´s also more flexible for training purposes. Then You paint eyes on it - and attach ears and pelt. Just to know how it feels like. If anything fails You could pull Your teeth. Just for the sake of it. More space, less injuries for the cat. The wholesome approach...
