Lawlessness in USA.
I thought that USA is a first world country, but most places are now worse than third world countries, people can just run and loot a store during broad daylight :(

So, from where you live, do people do bad thing like that? Running, looting, robbing in broad daylight, without any consequence? Is there lawlessness at level like some USA’s places?

I live in Southern California but have also lived in a couple major cities on the East coast, and the answer I can give to you is a resounding yes. It's not great in the US these days. I mean, it's still great if you're wealthy/rich and have land and your house is in a "good area" and fairly isolated from things like homeless encampments on the street and all sorts of petty crimes or worse, but if you're not well off then it's pretty beat.

I'll give you some examples.

When my wife and I moved into our current place, we briefly met the neighbors across from us. They were very nice. The next morning SWAT was here for several hours before finally coaxing out and arresting the guy because of a domestic disturbance involving a firearm. That was what we woke up to our first morning here.

In the year and a half or so we've been here at this apartment complex there has been at least 1 murder, several stabbings, and several domestic assaults. There have been other incidents as well where the police were here but I'm not exactly sure of the nature of it.

Cars are frequently stolen in the area or car parts. Pets get stolen. Even kids get stolen. There is a pretty major scandal going on currently involving a young girl from my town being abducted by marines from a nearby base and kept there and yea. It's bad.

A guy got shot and killed outside a fast food place barely a mile away from me. Nobody knows why and the shooter or shooters still haven't been caught. This happened about 3 weeks ago.

These examples aren't even the tip of the iceberg, there's so much more but this post is getting kinda lengthy so I'll leave it there. The US is not what it used to be, that's for sure.

Oh dan, that was such experience that you shared. Thanks sharing. It must have been crazy for you and your family to live through. I wouldn’t sleep at night or leave my home peacefully if it were me. Crazy!

Yea we're actually planning on leaving the US entirely as soon as we can, we definitely don't want to live here any longer.

So violence against trans-folk and LGQBT are decreasing?

No, no, no... when they say "it's lower" it's lower and when they say "it's higher" it's higher...

It only works the way they want it to...

No. It's increasing, especially against trans people. But trans people are a tiny minority, and the overall crime rate is much lower now than it has been for most of the past 30 years, much less the 50 I've been alive.

What you're doing is called "red herring sophistry" and in a better world, it would be embarrassing.

No, I've noticed that folks on the left don't actually believe in anything, and thus depending on how you phrase something you can get them to agree or disagree to anything.

For instance if I would of said "do you mean white supremacy and their criminal behavior isn't on the rise" The answer would be "of course THAT crime in on the rise"

And I find people on the right engage in the sort of vapid nonsense you're spewing here all the time.

Most crime is not white supremacist crime. White supremacist crime could double, and the overall crime rate could decrease at the same time. You can act like you don't understand what you're doing, but you're clearly confloating particular subsets of crime with the overall crime rate, and then attacking the left for your deliberate obuscation of the rlationship.

Nazis did this a lot in the early 1930s, btw, accusing Jews, immigrants and queers of criminality and railing about out of control crime in a country where the only crime on the rise was right wing terrorism against minorities.

Times change. Nazis don't.

Never speak to me again.

I don’t think I would survive in the US as a kid.

I used to jump over neighbor’s fence to get the ball back.

I might not even make it back to fence without getting shot on the back under the pretext of “self defense”.

Hey, I'm a Republican, my political party has been victims of white supremacy just as much, remember the KKK lynched hundreds of white Republicans.

And yeah the Nationalist SOCIALIST Workers Party of Germany was bad, my family fled Nazi Germany and tried to take refuge in America but Japanese Internment Democrat President FDR denied them. That's partly why I'm a Republican, so that that kind of lawlessness never happens.

Yeah, I've heard overall crime (among the commoners, lol) is down, and it's been trending that way for a while now. Decades even.

Snow you took the Nazi bait, lol. Just because they call themselves socialists doesn't mean they are socialists. Do you think the Democrats are democratic?

Maybe try to not put people in a box in general?
He put himself in the box. I just pointed at him in his box and identified which bax he was jumping into.

"Never again" is the promise every decent Christian soul should make on learning about the Holocaust. I am doing my duty, and you're telling me not to judge Nazis.

No, I pointed out how your comments were inconsistent and you went to label me as a socialist. Stop it, I'm not a socialist.

Still have to pass a state and federal background check if you buy them from an FFL.

Calling people “ Nazis “ for not being left seems like you are putting them in a box, most likely to defame them by marking them with a taboo label.

I am German. Most people outside of Germany don’t seem to know what Nazis actually are and toss around this term like a pack of candy.

No. It's impossible.

A first world country is the United States, NATO, and her allies.

The US would have to not be the US in order to no longer be a first world country.

If someone wants to mean developed nation, they need to use that term and not an outdated Cold War designation.
California is a 3rd world nation, America is a 1st world nation.

Only if they take Oregon and Washington with them to make that 3rd world nation... :winkkit:

No one got called Nazi for not being left. Someone got called Nazi for using the exact same rhetorical techniques used by Dr Goebbels and the NSDAP to drive anti-minority sentiment in Germany in the 1930s.
