"Influencer" Retro Gamers are are feral trash. Pure scum. All of them.
They've killed the hobby for a lot of people quite honestly, including me. There were always rare and collectable physical games that were valuable, but now game collecting has turned into a trading and profit driven endeavour where these "influencers" accumulate so many games they have no interest in playing but line them up as trophies like the heads of taxidermy bears for their pathetic YouTube videos, and do the whole e-begging grift, and signal that "oh, well I don't have this game" as a dog whistle for viewers to send them rare games.

Silver lining is it's a positive because I spend more time doing other hobbies and being outdoors. But anyone who sits in front of a camera with their physical game collection behind them flaunting there game collection like an idiot and e-begging like crazy and presenting this to everyone like it's some kind of real job lives a lowly form of human existence.

Further, I've seen this following trend. I'm gonna be blasted for this but I have to get it off my chest.

There's also a trend of "Influencer" retro gamers who get their well endowed girlfriend to get in front of the camera in scantly clad attire who know nothing about games but perk their jugs so that their cleavage is the centre of gravity for the video while they pout their lips and talk about old games they've obviously never played and have no interest in, and this is the shtick of their channel.

I hope people who would class themselves as humble collectors who have a meaningful collection aren't priced out by the tactics that these "Influencers" engage in. I don't think I'd sell my collection, I don't have much in the grand scheme of things, but what I do have is something that means something to me rather than trying to get every single game for every console. There is a point where a hobby becomes an obscene illness and I think "Retro" these days is a cursed word and the "Influnecer" behaviour is like some kind of sick gambling addiction.

I saw a video the other day about rating agencies giving cartridges quality ratings like they are magic cards or something.

I thought it was terrible. They're going to be priced out of the hands of most people now. You used to be able to go to a retro game store and buy old carts for cheap. Now they are being treated like collectibles and will be hoarded by "investors".

Roms and emulation are where it's at.

Actually no. I'm happy with what I have, I don't flaunt it though. One of my main points is these influnencers are ruining it for everyone else. If a collector plays and enjoys what they buy that's the way it should be. But these classic console games are not being bought and sold for the gaming aspect of it anymore.
i have nooo idea what u r talking about OP :mayu_sd:
hate the ppl who watch them, dont hate them for their easy way to make money
