Ghosts n Goblins. Enemies never stop appearing. So many patterns you can't hit, and the fact you have to beat it again to get the true ending is bonkers!

its depends the most hardest difficult game that I have beaten would be Elden Ring but if your talking playing games emotionally painful there are couple that I loved the first one would be Omori, Umineko, OPUS: Echo of Starsong, You Me and Her a love story, Steins Gate and then the last one would be The Longing since it sets a good emotional mood to the game.

For me its siren 1 for the ps2 and wow it was a pain in the ass, the puzzles are really hard and absurd for some reason and enemies kill you instantly, and i barely finished the game

gotta be oneshot. the non-true endings hit you like a truck, because the game gets you attached to the main character, niko, in ways that i will not tell! go play oneshot! best story game ive ever played.
