The "New" 3DS is stupid
So Nintendo's "New" 3DS seems to be almost the same as the older one. The new improvements seem to be very bad.

-Faster Loading Times
With the exception of starting up the game I find 3DS games have pretty good load times already so this isn't really something that improves much.

-Faster Download Times
Like many other people I prefer my games to be in boxs so I don't download much on the 3DS.

-New Buttons
The "New" 3DS comes with 2 more shoulder buttons as well as another circle pad. The new circle pad is just a tiny little nub when it should be as big as the main circle pad. It would work so well if it was under the ABXY buttons. Either than Smash when does the extra circle pad matter? And by the time the New 3DS came out I was already used to doing smash attacks with direction+A. I haven't played Xenoblade Chronicles 3D but when do the extra shoulder buttons actually do stuff?

-Games
As of writing this Xenoblade Chronicles 3D is the only game you can play exclusively on the "New" 3DS. Have fun paying around $200 for a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ remaster because the modern consoles didn't have enough already.

-Built in Amiibo Support
What's the great thing about handheld consoles? They fit in your pocket and can easily be taken anywhere. This isn't the case for Amiibo. Especially considering the ones with objects that easily break. So if I'm home already then why not use my amiibo on the far superior Wii U version of Smash (3DS version is still good)?

And I'm still not even sure if this is a new console or another member of the DS family like the DSi and 2DS:steamfacepalm:

The idea of Amiibos is pretty good. Even if the support for games is bad you have a nice figurine of a character you really like. And the retail price is around $14! If only Nintendo shipped the Amiibo.
I am thinking of getting one, since i need a new 3DS anyways. My old one works fine but the circle pad is done, it cant play smash bros anymore becuase you can not dodge, dash or even do proper smash attacks anymore.

Yeah, 15 bucks for what? A piece of plastic. I don't know man, as long as you guys have fun with it.

The system is a very good one in it's own right, however does not warrant an upgrade from a regular 3DS. If you already have an original 3DS, you might as well stick to it. Or at least trade in your old one if you do get a new. My main complaint with the New 3DS XL is the design of it. I'm not a fan of the nub C-stick, it's ineffective if your thumb is sweaty, would have preffered another circle pad and I don't like the "clicky" buttons, I much prefer those with a rubber base. At least for ABXY and D-pad. Other than that, it's one hell of a little console.

I agree with most of this except for the Amiibo support and Button Layout.
To me the nub is perfect where it is, if it was under the ABXY buttons it would be awful.

Nintendo is also about to release Amiibo in card form, so it'll be easier to carry them around. For now they're only releasing Animal Crossing Cards since Happy Home Designer a 3DS game is about to release. I have no doubt that Nintendo will release the other Amiibo in card form as well, fixing your issue with the Amiibo portability.

Yeah if you don't own any kind of 3DS might as well get the "new" one but the differences between them aren't worthy of giving it the name NEW 3DS.

You do know every game controller with two sticks has the second stick under the ABXY buttons (Wii U has it above). And Happy Home Designer seems to be the only game with Amiibo cards.

Nintendo is always releasing slightly better versions of established handhelds. They have been doing that since the 90's.

I thought it started with the DSi.

No, not at all. Is that one of the dual screen handhelds? They had game boy (which had ♥♥♥♥ tons of different models), then game boy color, then gameboy advance.

Nintendo has probably released 25 different types of game boys. Some of them are the same thing as the model before it, just a tiny tweak here or there.

No, this is an objective improvement. Not only are there people who do download games. Everyone benefits from being able to download updates faster.

Making the c-stick as big as the circle pad would be nice. But the only real issue I have with the c-stick is how it can be tough to move it in certain directions without having a piece of cloth or something on it. The extra buttons are also just a built-in circle pad pro. So outside of Smash, they support everything that supports the CCP.

it's not even a remaster, it's a port without the option for Japanese voices. It's a port with less content.

The first DS redesign was actually the DS Lite. It was smaller with multiple brightness settings rather than just letting you turn the back light on or off.

The GBC and GBA are their own consoles.

because the controllers are much more smaller, these are square and it feels much more better.
That's why I said that they would probably release the other Amiibo in card form
