Hi so the other day my grandma got a call from snowball solutions tech support and offered her tech support for $200. this is the site http://snowballsolutions.net/ , and I was wondering if some of you could tell me if my grandma should cancle her creidt card that she gave the guy on the phone or not. personally I know this is a scam just I want to get some others opinions and research into this potentially fake company.

Tech support for what? What was the issue and what are they doing to her PC?
Hølland601 18/ago./2015 às 21:02
they helped her upgrade to windows 10 and demanded payment. keep in mind this over the phone

What operating system was she running before the upgrade?

so it was the free upgrade

Hell ya its a scam. If she had a legitimate copy of Windows and her hardware met requirements the upgrade to Win 10 is free for a year. She should have received a notification on her desktop for the optional upgrade.

Cancel the payment. No help desk would call someone to upgrade Windows 10. Have her dispute the charges or do a charge back.

No, we don't have to understand. The point is, it's a scam or a very well planned out ripoff on elderly or computer illiterate people. No help desk should be contacting anyone to help upgrade to Windows 10 and demand payment.

People call help desks with problems, not the other way around. You don't get some random help desk call to have you do something.

Still, as her grandson you could easily upgrade her system for her for free, like I said if her system meets requirements. Now if for some reason there was a required hardware upgrade to meet requirments then ya maybe the cost was parts, but if not she got duped by someone simply taking advantage of someone who doesn't know I'm betting.

People that prey on the elderly are the worst...man simply the worst..

yea but she lives 50 miles away from me. but it is a company and the way my dad explained it is if you buy a product [From a legitament company] and the product you buy is what was sold to you and you are satified with that product. it isnt a scam so therefore my grandma didnt get scammed. But I know and if we just wait there will be no snowball solutions because they will create another website simalar to this one and scam more people. I know this is a scam but I cant tell her.

Okay so if she went into an agreement for services that were rendered, then legally that's just called buyers remorse and if they invoiced her for services and she doesn't pay the potential for taking her to small claims exists. If she had been an informed consumer had simply done some homework or someone assisted her with that and requested estimates and not ventured in a final agreement she'd have something to stand on. I know it sucks worse than anything and i have no respect for people that prey on others but it might be too late. You can contact the Better Business Bureau in your area and seek advice before paying the bill. See what they suggest.

yea thats what i mean there is no justice for 80 year old people because the problem is that she wouldnt even know how to do any of the stuff that you just listed. for instance a few years back the mailman ran threw her yard and destroyed it but she just paid the $2300 for a landscaper to fix it. it is just money in someone elses pocket and nothing can be done about it sadly. no more words said from my side XD
