There are so few decent videogame based films, and even they are pretty far from perfect.
SIlent Hill 1+2 ( A weird blending of the first three games, and I enjoyed them.)
The CGI Resident Exil movies (They connect to the games, and you could see them being RE games)
The CGI Final Fantasy films (Yes, I think Spirits Within was good.)
Doom (They got monsters in on mars, and the Rock and Karl Urban to shoot them. Sounds like they nailed it)
Mortal Kombat (Only the first one, which stuck to the core concept, had a bunch of really good fight scenes, and didn't ♥♥♥♥♥ around with making the movie kid friendly)
The trick Hollywood seems to miss is that you can make a few changest to the concept, but you can't make it completely different. And you can't make it kid friendly, especially when it shouldn't be. Street Fighter was a crap movie because they removed the Martial Arts from a franchise about martial arts, and made if a goofy and colorful kiddy film about Raúl Juliá flying around with the power of magnets. Tomb Raider, despite it readily being adaptable as the the Lady Indiana Jones films, were turned into fighting evil businessment sub-standard action flicks. And every film by Uve Boll... ♥♥♥♥ that guys.
I am so glad they cancled the Bioshock film, what with them wanting a PG-13 rating and a minimum budget.
