Does an xbox 360 still damage discs?
I heard back in 2008 alot people complaining about their xboxes it would damage their games, I'm about to buy an xbox 360 tomorrow and it's 2015 now and I would like to hear from xbox owners if they have much damage on their discs.

I dont know, really. I still have the first gen Xbox360 console and it hasnt yet scratched any discs. I usually keep it laying flat on the ground, instead of keeping it up like a tower. To tell you the truth, the very first Xbox 360 console I had broke a lot of games, and eventually had a Red ring of death.

Thanks for that very quick respond, Do you think microsoft updated the hardware in an xbox 360 to prevent scratches on discs? Because you say your first xbox broke alot of games.

And sorry for being a noob, but whats a red ring of death ?

Maybe they did, I dont know. Im just paranoid that my Xbox360 will scratch games if I have it up like a tower.

Red ring of Death is a term where your Xbox360 overheats so much that it just dies, and you'll need a new Xbox.

Thanks for explaining, but how does an RRD occur? It sounds like it can occur by turning your xbox on for a too long time. And does it occur nowadays much?
What model xbox are you buying OP?

I have no clue if it does or not, and I dont know if it occurs today.
All the xbox 360 slims have had the RROD problem removed and fixed. As for scratching, im not sure. But its only if you drop your xbox while its on and the disc is playing...
mine are fine poor idiots who bought the small hardrive
Launc 360, never had a damaged disk issue, so I am guessing you are safe.
My old 360 never damaged disks. I heard that only really happened if you moved the 360 around while a disk was spinning inside (I don't know if that is true).
the damage only happened if you had the xbox standing up and if it was moved or shook while on
