However, one game I played quite a bit elsewhere was a thing called "Gemstone Warrior" on an Apple II, where you had to fight your way through a dungeon and collect... well, take your guess :-) It wasn't too difficult, so I just kept on going until it started screwing up. They didn't have a level limit set in code, but when you levelled up after being "Demigod" it started giving you titles like "treasure" or "sword" and stuff like that -- basically other strings from the game, and at some point it crashed :-)
16 bit was Amiga, and I don't have a real "favorite" there. Played "Xenon 2 Megablast" a lot. "PP Hammer", "Lemmings II" or "Twinworld" come to mind without doing any research, so maybe that counts for something.
My brother is five years older than me and, back in those days, he used to play games while I watched. I was too young to read the text in FFIII, so he would read it aloud to me as he played -- and, much to my amusement, he would often do specific voices for many of the characters. He would also let me control one or two characters in combat with the second controller (which was pretty generous of him considering I was nowhere near as fast as he was at navigating the menu).
Once I got a little older, it was one of the first games I went back and played by myself due in no small part to the fond memories I had of him playing it with me. -:) So, yeah. Great game by itself, but when you add in the brother/sister bonding memories? It's pretty hard to beat in my book.
