Have you ever been blamed for something you didn't do?

I recently had a group of friends blame me for something one of their other friends did. It's oh well. But has anyone else had something like this happen? I would be interested in hearing you thought!

Mom once blamed me for eating all the cheese in the fridge, just because she couldn't find it herself. Ended up finding it for her after 5 seconds of checking for it myself.

I haven't been used as a scapegoat, but I'll admit that some of the people whom have wronged me in turn got used as a scapegoat by yours truly and it didn't end well for them. When I start plotting revenge, that's how you know you really pissed me off.

Yeah. When I was 12 living in a group home the kid in the same room as me was having a conversation with himself pretending to be me while I was sleeping and talked as if I wanted to burn the building down. (they listened in on the kids in their rooms). They of course believed him and I got treated terribly.

Yep, I can't recall a time in which this hasn't happened. Whenever anything goes wrong I'm the go to scapegoat because I'm not a part of the in group normally.

Of course, I never stand back and let it happen. I call it out. It's normally followed by gaslighting, quips, disrespect, and a herd mentality.

Yes, and often I blamed myself in the past for things my split did.

Back in school it happened all the time. And of course the teachers never believe your denials.

I remember one time being sent to detention for half the school day for no reason whatsoever. To this day I still have no idea what I was even accused of doing.
