Anybody else find ASMR disgusting
Ok i know people are aloud to have there own opinions, But i dont want to listen to some guy starring directly into my pupils, loudly eating a Popsicle (or any food for that manner). I dont want to hear your saliva break down your food, and your teeth grind it up.

I don't get it. When I first stumbled up it, it was mostly girls whispering in to a high-quality microphone. I wrote it off as weird Internet stuff and moved on, but I could at least see why someone might enjoy that.

Now, it's all eating and chewing noises. I really don't understand the appeal, at all.

Most ASMR isn't disgusting, honestly. And, most ASMR isn't just about eating loudly either. But if you don't like it, that's your prerogative.

Human noises does exactly the opposite of sparking joy to me.

It's similar to binaural beats, which some consider to be a digital drug, but it's not.

It makes use of the fact that the right and left ear each receive a slightly different frequency tone, yet the brain perceives these as a single tone. So it's best listened to with audiophile high-quality speakers or ideally high-end headphones.

If the left ear registers a tone at 200 Hz and the right ear registers one at 210 Hz, the binaural beat is 10 Hz — the difference between the two frequencies.

Places like Youtube won't actually have high enough audio quality to do a full sound range and experience, you would rather want it in FLAC format, for example.

Then low-frequency waves are linked to “delta” and “theta” states which can boost relaxation and improve sleep. While higher frequencies reportedly boost your brain waves into a “gamma” state which may make you more alert, focused, or better able to recall memories.

This in turn can increase or hold back different brain functions that control thinking and feeling to a point.

With this, there are many types. Relaxation being the most common, but can go to the other extreme. The listener is using their own memories and thoughts to create the experience anyways, so all the sound does is allow them to focus on it more and enhance it.

Binaural patterns

Delta pattern: Binaural beats in the delta pattern operate at a frequency of 0.5–4 Hz with links to a dreamless sleep.

Theta pattern: Practitioners set binaural beats in the theta pattern to a frequency of 4–7 Hz. Theta patterns contribute to improved meditation, creativity, and sleep in the rapid eye movement (REM) phase.

Alpha pattern: Binaural beats in the alpha pattern are at a frequency of 7–13 Hz and may encourage relaxation.

Beta pattern: Binaural beats in the beta pattern are at a frequency of 13–30 Hz. This frequency range may help promote concentration and alertness. However, it can also increase anxiety at the higher end of the range.

Gamma pattern: This frequency pattern accounts for a range of 30–50 Hz. It's suggested that these frequencies promote maintenance of arousal while a person is awake.

AMSR is just a basic, useless version of an attempt at doing this at much lower quality, without really knowing what they are even doing.

Still can be used for amusing entertainment...

It reminds me of some of the ♥♥♥♥ I went through as a child. The kind of ♥♥♥♥ that should have landed a particular person on a list. I'll say no more, save that it's obviously not for me.
