Usually how coffee works is that it will cause your body to adjust to the caffeine and your daily cycle will change so your more alert in the morning due to coffee and less alert later in the day, when normally you are generally the same throughout. That is usually the reason people drink it, to wake up more in the morning but your going to sacrifice a little by being less alert later on.
Me, i wouldn't drink it if i didn't like the taste, but a good cup of STRONG dark roast is awesome. Tastes great, which is why i drink it.
As a side note: because of the way caffeine works on the brains nerve cells, often caffeine will make you MORE sleepy, which is why sometimes drinking such drinks don't wake you up but make you tired. Its a constant fight in your brain between caffeine and your natural adenosine chemicals (which make you sleepy), sometimes caffeine wins out, sometimes adenosine wins out for those valuable nerve receptor spots.
I thoroughly enjoy a good cup of coffee. Probably have an average of a bit less than one a day; I never have it enough to have withdrawals but I do only notice the pick-me-up effect when I haven't had it for a day or two. Which is fine, it's usually not why I'm drinking it.
Health-wise, the milk's probably adding a bit too much energy to my diet, but I can work that off, and it's certainly not given me a "horrible face" by any means. Should probably try switching to soy or whatever, nonetheless. The coffee itself has enough protective or otherwise beneficial aspects that I'm not concerned about it, though of course it's not entirely without potential detriments.
Why do people get fat?
Why do people hyperventilate?
Why do people strain muscles while working out?
Why do people go all night without sleeping?
Why do people refrain from drinking water instead of all their soda?
Why do people get in bar fights?
Why did that ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on the news attack that Uber driver and get pepper sprayed in the face?
Why do people do anything at all?
The point is why do people do anything?
What kind of a question is why do people drink coffee?
What kind of a question is why do people smoke?
Why do people eat candy?
Why do people watch the ♥♥♥♥ that is on TV these days?
Do you not see how these questions are kind of odd to begin with?
Otherwise, I'll pass.
